About the Role

We are looking for a Product Development Manager to drive the development and execution of new physical consumer products across MDPH's FMCG portfolio.

The role involves taking a product from the initial concept through product design, packaging development, specifications, costing, supplier coordination, commercial finalisation and production readiness.

The position works closely with R&D;, Purchase, Manufacturing, Packaging Suppliers, Design Agencies, Marketing and Sales, and requires strong ownership and coordination skills. The role does not involve formulation or core R&D; of fragrances/raw materials.

Key Responsibilities

1. New Product Development

- Drive the end-to-end development of new FMCG products from concept to production readiness.
- Understand product concepts, positioning and consumer requirements and translate them into a finished product.
- Coordinate with internal R&D; teams to understand fragrance, raw material and product specifications.
- Work with design agencies to develop product concepts, packaging designs and artworks.Brief agencies clearly on product requirements, specifications and brand guidelines.
- Ensure the final product is aesthetically appealing, commercially viable and practical to manufacture.

2. Packaging Development

- Developing packaging specifications in consultation with suppliers and internal teams.
- Coordinating packaging samples, trials and modifications.
- Evaluating packaging options on quality, aesthetics, functionality and cost.
- Coordinate with packaging and other product-development suppliers for quotations, samples, specifications, lead time,



etc along with negotiations

3. Product Costing

- Prepare detailed product costing sheets using Google Sheets & ERP
- Consolidate the cost of packaging, raw materials, fragrance and other components.
- Evaluate different packaging and supplier options to optimise product economics.
- Develop cost comparisons and alternate scenarios wherever required.

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

- Gathering inputs from different departments and converting them into actionable product specifications.
- Driving follow-ups across departments to keep projects on schedule.
- Identifying bottlenecks and resolving issues proactively.
- Once a product is finalised, coordinate with the Marketing and Sales teams to finalise the necessary product communication such as Flyers, Videos, etc

Candidate Profile

This role offers an prospect to work closely with senior management and multiple functions while contributing directly to the development of products that reach consumers at significant scale. We are looking for someone with:

- 5 to 10 years of experience in FMCG, consumer products, packaging development or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of packaging materials and packaging development.
- Experience coordinating with various agencies such as Design, Social Media, etc
- Strong commercial and costing orientation.
- Excellent Excel/Google Sheets skills.
