About the Role

We are looking for a Principal Architect / Head of Architecture to define and drive the company's technology direction as we scale.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will work closely with the founding engineer, platform engineering, product, and leadership teams to shape system architecture, establish engineering standards, evaluate technology choices, and ensure our platforms remain secure, scalable, reliable, and extensible.

You will be the primary technical owner of architecture across the company, spanning existing products, new initiatives, infrastructure, security, and developer experience.

What You Will Do

- Define the company's long-term technology and architecture strategy.
- Own architecture across existing and future products, ensuring consistency and clear separation of responsibilities.
- Design and review complex, distributed, cloud-native, and highly available systems.
- Establish architectural principles, technology standards, and lightweight architecture governance.
- Guide decisions around cloud, Kubernetes, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, data, and infrastructure.
- Define and strengthen the company's security architecture, including identity, authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets, Zero Trust, and policy enforcement.
- Identify architectural risks and technical debt and create pragmatic plans to address them.
- Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions and emerging technologies.
- Work closely with the founding engineer and platform engineering team to drive architectural decisions and mentor engineers on system design.
- Prototype and validate key architectural decisions rather than relying solely on documentation.




- Ensure architecture decisions support both current product requirements and long-term product evolution.

What We're Looking For

- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience designing and operating production systems.
- Proven experience as a Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent technical leadership role.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, APIs, databases, messaging, and Kubernetes.
- Strong security fundamentals, including IAM, OAuth/OIDC, JWT, mTLS, PKI, workload identity, Zero Trust, and policy-based authorization.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Ability to make architectural decisions balancing security, scalability, reliability, complexity, and speed of delivery.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex systems to both engineers and business stakeholders.
- A hands-on mindset - you should be comfortable going from architecture → design → prototype → production.
