About the Role

We are looking for a responsible and experienced 2nd Class Mining Engineer / Mining Mate to supervise day-to-day operations at our soapstone (talc) mine in Kanker, Chhattisgarh.

The candidate will be responsible for safe and efficient mining operations, production planning, manpower supervision, excavation, material handling, mine development and maintaining statutory mining records.

Key Responsibilities1. Mine Operations

- Supervise daily soapstone mining and excavation activities.
- Plan and monitor extraction of ore and removal of overburden.
- Ensure proper development of benches, working faces and haul roads.
- Supervise manual mining, jackhammer operations and excavator-based operations.
- Ensure selective mining to maintain different grades/quality of soapstone.
- Monitor ore recovery and minimize dilution and wastage.
- Coordinate loading, transportation and stockpiling of material.

2. Production Management
- Prepare daily and monthly production plans.
- Monitor daily production against targets.
- Maintain records of ore production, overburden removal and dispatch.
- Coordinate with excavator operators, drivers, labour and contractors.
- Improve productivity and reduce unnecessary equipment downtime.

3. Safety & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable mining laws, safety regulations and approved mining plans.
- Conduct regular inspection of working areas, benches, haul roads and machinery.
- Ensure workers use appropriate PPE.




- Maintain safe working practices around excavators, tippers, jackhammers and other equipment.
- Report accidents, unsafe conditions and near misses immediately.
- Conduct toolbox/safety meetings with workers.

4. Manpower Supervision
- Supervise mine workers, operators, drivers and contractors.
- Allocate daily work to labour teams.
- Monitor attendance and productivity.
- Maintain discipline and ensure workers follow safety procedures.
- Coordinate with the Mines Manager and management regarding manpower requirements.

5. Quality & Grade Control
- Identify different grades of soapstone during excavation.
- Ensure different grades are separately stacked wherever practical.
- Monitor colour, brightness, impurities and visible contamination.
- Coordinate with the processing/quality team for sampling and testing.
- Maintain proper stockpile identification and records.

6. Equipment & Transport
- Coordinate deployment of:
- Excavators
- Tippers
- Tractor/trolleys
- Jackhammers
- Pumps
- Other mine equipment
- Monitor equipment utilization and operating hours.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with the equipment team.
- Track diesel consumption and identify abnormal consumption.

7. Records & Reporting

Prepare/maintain daily reports covering

- Production
- Overburden
- Dispatch
- Manpower
- Machine hours
- Diesel consumption
- Equipment utilization
- Safety incidents
- Stock position

Submit daily/weekly reports to the Mines Manager/Management.

Candidate Requirements





- Qualification: Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering preferred.
- Valid Second Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency (where applicable) / relevant statutory competency qualification.
- Practical experience in open-cast mining preferred.
- Experience in soapstone/talc, limestone, dolomite, granite or other minor mineral mines will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of mine safety and day-to-day mining operations.
- Ability to supervise labour and equipment operators.
- Basic computer skills for production and reporting.
- Ability to work at a remote mine location.
