Inventory Accountant US Accounting

About the Role

We are looking for an Inventory Accountant with hands-on experience in inventory accounting and US accounting. The ideal candidate should have experience in inventory valuation, inventory reconciliations, inventory costing, inventory reserves, and General Ledger accounting while ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with US GAAP.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage inventory accounting activities for US-based clients/entities.
- Perform inventory valuation in accordance with US GAAP and applicable accounting policies.
- Reconcile inventory records between inventory sub-ledgers, ERP systems, and the General Ledger.
- Analyse inventory movements and investigate quantity and value variances.
- Prepare inventory-related journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications.
- Calculate and review inventory reserves, provisions, and write-downs where applicable.
- Support inventory costing and review standard or actual costing calculations.
- Perform inventory ageing analysis and identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
- Support physical inventory counts and investigate count variances.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare inventory schedules and supporting documentation for financial reporting and audits.




- Coordinate with Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory controls, reconciliation processes, and reporting.

Key Software Hands-on experience with one or more of the following is preferred:

- SAP
- NetSuite

Experience with other ERP or inventory management systems will also be considered. Accounting & Compliance Knowledge

Qualifications & Skills

- Master's degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CMA, Chartered Accountants, or candidates pursuing relevant professional qualifications will be preferred.
- 3-8 years of experience in Inventory Accounting, Cost Accounting, General Accounting, or US Accounting.
- Experience supporting US accounting processes or US-based clients is preferred.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting, valuation, costing, and reconciliation.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Robust proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
