Role Description The Industrial Designer will contribute to the design and development of physical products and systems, working closely with engineering and fabrication teams to translate functional requirements into manufacturable designs. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating CAD models, developing product concepts, preparing design documentation, and supporting prototype builds and iterations. The role involves applying design thinking to solve technical and usability challenges,
collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensuring alignment with fabrication capabilities and design-for-manufacturing guidelines.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, requiring regular coordination with workshop and production teams.
Qualifications
- Solid skills in Industrial Design and Product Design, with the ability to create functional, manufacturable, and user-centered product concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Prototyping and Product Development, including iterative testing, refinement, and collaboration with fabrication teams.
- Proficiency in Design Thinking methodologies for problem-solving, user research, and translating requirements into practical design solutions.
- Working knowledge of CAD tools and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles relevant to metal structures, hardware systems, and industrial products.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and communicate design intent clearly through sketches, models, and documentation.
- Experience in hardware startups, industrial products, or fabrication environments is an advantage.
