Job Summary
Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day functioning of the PICU. Ensure safe and effective care of critically ill paediatric patients. Monitor patient condition, treatment plans, and timely escalation of critical cases.
Coordinate with paediatricians, intensivists, consultants, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Ensure proper implementation of PICU protocols, clinical procedures, and treatment plans. Supervise nursing and support staff and ensure adequate staffing and duty allocation.
Monitor compliance with infection control and patient safety practices. Ensure proper functioning and availability of ventilators, monitors, infusion pumps, emergency equipment, and other PICU equipment. Maintain accurate patient records, nursing documentation, treatment charts, and shift handover records.
Ensure timely availability of medicines, consumables, and emergency supplies. Conduct regular rounds and monitor quality of patient care and documentation. Handle emergencies and coordinate Code Blue and resuscitation procedures as required.
Counsel and communicate appropriately with parents/attendants regarding patient care in coordination with the treating consultant. Conduct staff training, competency assessments, and orientation for PICU personnel. Monitor adherence to NABH standards, hospital policies, infection control protocols, and statutory requirements.
Participate in audits, quality improvement activities, mortality/morbidity reviews, and departmental meetings. Prepare and monitor PICU reports, incidents, and performance indicators.
Ensure proper shift handover and continuity of patient care.
Address staff and operational issues and escalate concerns to the concerned authority. Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the department/Hospital Management.

Qualifications
- B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing / GNM with valid Nursing Council registration.
- 5+ years of experience, preferably with relevant experience in PICU / Paediatric Critical Care.
- Experience in a multispecialty or tertiary care hospital preferred.
- Certification in BLS / ACLS / PALS will be an added advantage.
