Role Summary

We're building an ICU & OT digital platform that connects bedside medical devices to a central clinical dashboard — giving intensivists, anaesthetists, and hospital leadership real-time visibility into patient data, automated charting, and remote (tele-ICU / hub-and-spoke) monitoring.

As Implementation

Engineer — DHS, you're the person who makes this work on the ground. This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role based in Bengaluru, with 50–70% travel to hospital sites across India, for someone with 3+ years of relevant experience.

You will travel to hospital sites, install and configure servers and IoT gateways, connect multi-brand patient monitors, ventilators, anaesthesia machines and infusion pumps into the platform, integrate with the hospital's network and HIS/EMR, validate the deployment with clinical users, and hand over a live, stable system — working directly with hospital biomedical, IT, and clinical teams as the face of our technology at each site.

Key Responsibilities

Site Deployment & Commissioning

- Conduct pre-installation site surveys — assess network readiness, device inventory, port and cabling availability, server room and power infrastructure; document gaps and prepare the site readiness report.
- Install and configure on-premise servers (Ubuntu Server LTS, etc.), edge/IoT gateway boxes, and platform application stacks at hospital sites.
- Set up centralised, local, and replica/backup server tiers as per the deployment architecture, including static IP configuration, secure VPN tunnels, and resource monitoring.
- Execute end-to-end deployment: installation → configuration → device integration → data validation → UAT → go-live → handover.
- Perform version upgrades, patch deployments, and data migration from older releases with zero or minimal downtime.

Multi-Brand Medical Device Integration

- Integrate ICU and OT devices from multiple OEMs — patient monitors, ventilators, anaesthesia workstations, syringe and infusion pumps, incubators, defibrillators, etc.
- Work with device output interfaces and protocols including RS232/serial, TCP/IP, Ethernet, HL7 v2.x,

and vendor-specific or proprietary data formats; map, parse, and validate incoming vitals and waveform data.
- Troubleshoot device connectivity issues — baud rate and serial parameter mismatches, cable and adapter faults, driver mapping, data drop-outs, timestamp and unit-of-measure discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the engineering and driver development team to raise requirements for new device models, and validate newly released drivers in the field.
- Configure and commission IP camera and AV telepresence hardware for tele-ICU / hub-and-spoke setups.

Hospital Network Integration

- Work with hospital IT teams to integrate the platform into the hospital LAN/VLAN — IP addressing and subnetting, VLAN segmentation, switch port configuration, firewall rules, and port whitelisting.
- Configure and validate wired and wireless connectivity for bedside gateways and access points; troubleshoot latency, packet loss, and network drop issues.
- Set up secure remote access (VPN, jump hosts) for support and monitoring while complying with the hospital's IT security and data privacy policies.
- Support HIS/EMR/PACS integration — HL7 interface configuration, ADT feed mapping, patient demographic sync, and API-based data exchange; coordinate with the hospital's HIS vendor.
- Assist the hospital in meeting data residency, access control, and audit-log requirements as applicable under DPDP and hospital IT policy.

Validation, Testing & Quality

- Prepare and execute deployment test plans and test cases — system, integration, regression, sanity, and performance testing in the live hospital environment.
- Validate data accuracy end to end: device output vs. platform display vs. generated clinical reports.
- Log, track, and follow up defects through to resolution with the product and engineering teams.
- Maintain deployment documentation — as-built network diagrams, device integration matrix, configuration records, and site sign-off/UAT documents.

Customer Enablement & Support

- Conduct user training and demo sessions for intensivists, anaesthetists, nurses, and biomedical and IT staff.
- Provide post-deployment support — remote and in office issue resolution within defined SLAs.
- Support product demonstrations, Proof of Concept (POC) installations, pilot deployments, and trade show or conference demos.
- Capture field feedback and enhancement requests and channel them to the product team.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

- B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics, Biomedical, Instrumentation, or an equivalent discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in software implementation,

field deployment, medical device integration, healthcare IT, or clinical systems support.

Technical Skills — Must Have

- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, IP addressing and subnetting, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, switches and routers, firewalls and port configuration, VPN, and troubleshooting tools (ping, traceroute, telnet, netstat, basic Wireshark).
- Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards — HL7 v2.x, with awareness of DICOM, FHIR, and IHE profiles.
- Experience with serial communication (RS232) and device-level data acquisition.
- Familiarity with client-server architecture, databases (SQL or MongoDB), and reading application logs to diagnose issues.
- Ability to work from network diagrams, device manuals, and interface specifications.

Technical Skills — Good to Have

- Prior experience integrating devices from multiple brands.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), Docker, and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitHub).
- Experience with HIS/EMR integration projects in hospitals.
- IP camera/CCTV configuration and AV systems commissioning.
- Working knowledge of manual testing practices and defect tracking tools.
- Understanding of ICU and OT clinical workflows and terminology.
- Certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or Linux+ (an advantage, not mandatory).

Behavioural & Professional Requirements

- Strong troubleshooting and structured problem-solving ability — able to isolate whether an issue is device, cable, network, server, or application side.
- Excellent communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to clinicians and clinical requirements to engineers.
- Comfortable working inside live ICU and OT environments with appropriate discipline, infection-control awareness, and patient-safety sensitivity.
- Willingness to travel extensively at short notice and to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends during go-live windows.
- Ownership mindset — sees a deployment through from survey to sign-off, with strong documentation discipline.
- English mandatory; Hindi and/or regional language (Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam) strongly preferred.

Why This Role Matters

You'll be the person who turns a digital health platform into a live, working system inside a real ICU or OT — the last, most critical mile between engineering and patient care, gaining:

- End-to-end ownership of deployments, from site survey to go-live and sign-off, across hospitals nationwide.
- Hands-on exposure to multi-brand medical devices, hospital networks, and clinical workflows — a rare, broad technical skill set.
- Direct interaction with intensivists, anaesthetists, and hospital IT and biomedical teams, seeing first-hand how technology changes patient monitoring.
- The chance to work in a company with real purpose — where a stable, well-integrated platform translates directly into better, faster clinical decisions.

Location - Bengaluru (base) — PAN India travel (50–70%)
