Role Description The Ignition Designer and Developer will design, develop, and maintain applications and dashboards using Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform to support water intelligence and smart metering initiatives. This full-time, on-site role is based in Kolkata and involves configuring SCADA/IIoT projects, building user-friendly HMI screens, and integrating data from meters, sensors, and other field devices into centralized systems. The position includes collaborating with water resource specialists, engineers, and IT teams to translate operational requirements into robust digital solutions, as well as testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing system performance for reliability and scalability.





The Ignition

Designer and Developer will also contribute to documentation, support deployment and upgrades, and ensure adherence to security, compliance, and best practices in industrial automation and data management.

Qualifications

- Ignition platform skills, including experience with SCADA/IIoT project design, HMI/visualization development, and scripting within Ignition.
- Industrial automation and controls knowledge, such as familiarity with PLCs, field instrumentation, communication protocols (e.g., OPC, Modbus), and real-time data acquisition.
- Software development and integration skills, including programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python, SQL), database design, and API or middleware integration.
- Data handling and analytics capabilities, including working with time-series data, dashboards, reporting, and performance monitoring for operational decision-making.
- Understanding of water utilities or related domains, with exposure to smart metering, water resource management, or infrastructure monitoring considered an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on reliability and security.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and management functions in an in office environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; relevant certifications in Ignition or industrial automation are beneficial.
