Head - Creative Strategy
Location: Delhi
Experience: 8-12 years
Reports to: CEO
CTC: 25L-30L The role
Scatter is looking for a senior creative strategy leader whose instincts have been built in social and digital. You should be able to turn business problems, audience and cultural understanding, and platform behaviour into sharp social strategy, creative direction, campaign ideas and content thinking.
This is not a traditional brand-planning role. We are looking for someone who can lead the thinking on large social businesses, front-end senior client conversations, work closely with Creative and Client Servicing, and help build a strong strategy team around them.
The role spans three important areas of Scatter's business: strategic leadership on existing clients, growth within those clients, and new-business pitches.
What you will own
1. Social-first strategy
Take business and marketing problems and find the underlying social and communication opportunity. You should be comfortable working across audience and cultural insight, category understanding, platform behaviour, content strategy and strategic narratives. The expected output is a transparent point of view on the role a brand should play in people's feeds, conversations, and culture, and on what makes its work distinctive.
2. Creative strategy and direction
Turn insights and strategic direction into creative territories, campaign ideas and content systems. Work closely with Copy, Design, Video, and other creative specialists to shape what we should make, why people should care, and how the idea should come alive across social channels. You will not be expected to write every line or art-direct every execution, but you will be expected to participate actively in ideation and have a strong creative point of view.
3. Senior strategic ownership of key accounts
Be the senior strategic voice on some of Scatter's largest social businesses. Lead client meetings, interrogate briefs, present and defend recommendations, identify opportunities, and help teams distinguish between an execution problem and a strategy problem. You should be comfortable challenging a brief when necessary while remaining pragmatic about the realities of large client organisations.
4. Keep strategy alive in execution
Work closely with CS,
Creative, and the strategy team to ensure strategic intent carries over into everyday output. Look across campaigns and content for balance, repetition, gaps and opportunities. This is not about approving every post. It is about creating the guardrails, systems, and judgement that allow teams to produce consistently strong work without relying on a single senior person for every decision.
5. Platforms, culture and creators
Bring a strong working understanding of social platforms as environments rather than distribution channels. Understand how audience behaviour, formats, communities, creators, trends and culture differ across platforms. Know when a trend is genuinely useful to a brand and when it is simply chasing relevance, and make creator and influencer thinking part of strategy rather than an amplification afterthought.
6. Creative effectiveness and performance interpretation
Work with CS, Creative and specialist teams to understand what worked, what did not, what audiences responded to, what performance data is telling us, and what should change in the next iteration. You do not need to be a media or performance-marketing specialist. You do need to be comfortable turning results into better strategic and creative decisions.
7. Pitches and organic growth
Be one of Scatter's senior strategic voices in pitches and growth opportunities. This includes interrogating the brief, identifying the strategic opportunity, developing the pitch narrative, working with Creative on the central idea and social possibilities, and confidently presenting the thinking to senior marketers. The expectation is that our social and digital pitches will improve materially because of your involvement.
8. Build the strategy team
You will inherit a team rather than start with a blank sheet. A significant part of your job is to strengthen this group.
That means coaching and developing strategists, determining who should own what, reviewing and improving thinking, creating opportunities for people to step up, and ensuring strategic knowledge remains within Scatter rather than residing with individual people.
Your success is measured not only by the quality of your own thinking, but by how good the strategy team becomes under you.
What we'd like you to bring
- 8-12 years of experience, substantially within social-first or digital creative agencies. Agency experience is essential.
- Experience leading strategy for significant social and digital accounts
- Strong understanding of social platforms, audience behaviour, culture and creators
- Ability to find genuine consumer, behavioural or cultural insights rather than simply observations
- Evidence of turning insight into creative territories, campaigns and sustained content systems
- Strong creative instincts and experience working closely with senior Copy, Design and Video teams
- Strong client-room presence and experience leading senior client conversations
- Significant new-business pitch experience
- Comfort interpreting content and campaign performance and applying the learning strategically
- Experience managing and developing strategists
- Comfort moving between long-term strategic thinking and the realities of always-on social
- Curiosity about how culture, technology, AI and changing consumer behaviour are reshaping communication
What success could look like In the first 90 days:
Understand Scatter's major social businesses, establish strong relationships with CS and Creative, take strategic ownership of priority accounts and pitches, assess the strategy team, and establish a clear review rhythm.
Within six months:
Our major social businesses should have stronger strategic and creative consistency; the team should be taking greater ownership with less dependence on the Head personally; and performance learning should increasingly influence future thinking.
Within a year:
Scatter should have a demonstrably stronger social-first creative strategy capability, evident in our existing work, our pitches, the people you've developed, and the kinds of social businesses we are able to win.
