We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as Financial Control Director, reporting to the Regional Financial Controller;this full-time and permanent position is based in Mumbai, India and offers regional coverage, allowing you to make a significant impact to our EME Finance team and its growth.
Purpose of the role :
The Financial Control Director will serve as the principal custodian of financial integrity for a single EME country within Vistra’s broader EME portfolio. The remit is the full-scope financial controllership of one country: owning its balance sheet, its statutory compliance, its regulatory obligations, and its external audit cycle. Reporting to the Regional Financial Controller, the incumbent will act as a trusted strategic interlocutor to the country’s senior leadership, country board, and local managing director, providing incisive financial analysis and counsel that underpins sound commercial decision-making.
Beyond technical stewardship, the role demands an astute leader capable of orchestrating cross-functional collaboration, driving process optimisation, and upholding an unwavering commitment to regulatory compliance and fiscal discipline within the country.
Key responsibilities :
1. Financial, Reporting & Statutory Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the country, in conformity with local statutory frameworks and IFRS.
- Ensure meticulous reconciliation of the country’s general ledger accounts and management accounts, with zero tolerance for unexplained variances.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation to substantiate all financial disclosures and ensure full traceability of accounting entries.
- Develop and present incisive management information packs to the Group Finance Controller and Regional FC, highlighting key performance indicators, deviations, and actionable insights.
- Act as the finance representative to the country’s board and senior leadership, presenting the country’s financial results, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to non-finance stakeholders; manage relationships with the country’s leadership team and local managing director to ensure finance is embedded in commercial decision-making at board level.
- Conduct rigorous variance analysis (budget vs. actual vs. prior year) and furnish cogent commentary to facilitate strategic realignment.
2. Tax, Treasury & Regulatory Affairs
- Manage corporate tax compliance obligations, including the preparation of corporate tax and VAT returns, in collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Oversee the country’s cash flow forecasting, working capital optimisation, and intercompany settlements, ensuring liquidity remains within prescribed parameters.
- Monitor and respond proactively to regulatory developments promulgated by the local regulatory authorities and relevant government ministries.
3. Internal Controls & Risk Management
- Design, implement, and continuously fortify a robust internal control framework (ICS) for the country, encompassing segregation of duties, authorisation matrices, and financial risk mitigation protocols.
- Act as the principal point of contact for internal audit engagements; remediate findings with demonstrable urgency and accountability.
- End-to-end management of the external audit process – including audit planning, preparation of audit files, managing auditor timelines and queries, resolving findings, and ensuring timely sign-off. This is a leadership role in audit, not a reactive one; the role holder proactively drives the audit cycle and manages the auditor relationship.
- Act as the primary relationship owner with external auditors, ensuring audit efficiency, maintaining the integrity of audit deliverables, and minimising disruption to business operations.
4. Systems, Process Improvement & Digitalization
- Drive the continuous enhancement of finance processes through automation and the strategic deployment of SAP S/4HANA and analytical tools (e.g., SAC BI)
- Collaborate with Group Finance and IT stakeholders to ensure seamless system integrations, data governance, and reporting infrastructure.
Key Requirements :
Academic Credentials
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (mandatory)
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA) is desirable, but not mandatory.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial controlling, statutory reporting, or a cognate finance function, ideally including full-scope ownership of a single legal country within a multinational corporate setting.
- Proficiency in local statutory frameworks and IFRS reporting standards; exposure to EME regulatory environments (particularly UAE frameworks such as DIFC, ADGM, or UAE mainland) is a strong advantage.
- Prior exposure to EME tax legislation and transfer pricing frameworks, and direct dealings with local tax authorities, is desirable; strong preference for candidates with UAE regulatory exposure (e.g. DIFC, ADGM, or UAE mainland frameworks).
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience owning and signing off the full balance sheet of a single legal country
- Proven track record of proactively managing external audits end-to-end, including auditor relationship management and audit sign-off.
- Proven ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders at country level, including the country board, local managing director, and external advisors.
Competencies & Attributes
- Exemplary analytical acumen — the ability to distil complex financial data into cogent, executive-ready narratives.
- Exceptional organisational dexterity — adept at navigating competing priorities within a dynamic, deadline-driven milieu.
- Strong leadership gravitas — capable of inspiring, motivating, and developing a team of finance professionals.
- Impeccable ethical standards and an uncompromising commitment to compliance and financial integrity.
- A collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with the intellectual curiosity to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.
Language Proficiency
- Professional proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with Group headquarters and international stakeholders
