We're a premium women's bottomwear D2C brand based in Coimbatore, and we're looking for an experienced Fabric Technologist to consult on a freelance basis for our woven fabric development.

You'll work closely with our fashion designer to translate design intent — feel, fall, compactness — into exact, manufacturable fabric specifications.

? Responsibilities:

- Design fabric construction to match design brief: weave type, yarn count, blend %, GSM, cover factor
- Specify and validate fabric strength, crimp, and recovery parameters
- Develop the technical spec sheet / tech pack shared with the weaver and processing unit
- Evaluate and approve lab dips, strike-offs, and swatches against the original design intent
- Troubleshoot fabric issues — shrinkage, pilling, colorfastness, hand-feel deviations from spec
- Work directly with the design team to bridge aesthetic requirements and technical execution

? Skills & Experience Required:
- B.Tech/M.Tech in Textile Technology or equivalent




- 8+ years in fabric R&D;/development, ideally with a composite mill or fabric manufacturing unit
- Solid command of woven construction — plain, twill, satin, dobby weaves and how each affects drape and hand-feel
- Working knowledge of yarn engineering and blend combinations (cotton-lycra, cotton-poly, etc.)
- Familiarity with fabric testing standards — tensile strength, shrinkage, colorfastness
- Understanding of how dyeing/processing affects final fabric hand-feel and fall
- Prior experience developing wovens specifically for apparel (not only home textiles/industrial fabrics)
- Strong technical documentation skills
