Email Marketing Executive (Part Time)
Role type: Part time, approximately 15 hours per week Location: Remote, with flexibility on working hours Reports to: Marketing Lead
About the role
We are looking for an Email Marketing Executive to own the technical side of our email programme. Copy and creative come from our content team. Your job is to make sure those emails are built correctly, sent from a healthy infrastructure, land in the inbox rather than the spam folder, and are measured properly afterwards.
This is a deliverability and operations role rather than a copywriting one. If you enjoy warming domains, keeping lists clean, chasing down a sudden drop in open rates and getting the plumbing right, this will suit you.
What you will doSending infrastructure and deliverability
- Plan and run domain and IP warm up schedules for new sending domains and subdomains, including volume ramping and monitoring at each stage.
- Set up and maintain authentication records: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and where relevant BIMI and MTA-STS. Move DMARC policy from monitoring to enforcement safely.
- Monitor domain and IP reputation on an ongoing basis using tools such as Google Postmaster Tools, Microsoft SNDS and equivalent, and act early when scores move.
- Watch blocklists and spam trap indicators, and manage delisting requests where needed.
- Maintain separate sending streams for marketing, transactional and lifecycle email so that one cannot damage the other.
- Investigate and resolve deliverability incidents: sudden bounce spikes, throttling by a specific mailbox provider, inbox placement drops.
List health and data
- Own list hygiene: bounce handling, suppression lists, unengaged contact sunsetting, duplicate and role account removal.
- Run validation and verification on imported or purchased-in lists before any send, and push back where a list is not safe to mail.
- Maintain segmentation logic and keep segment definitions documented and consistent.
- Manage consent capture, preference centres and unsubscribe handling, and keep records that stand up to a GDPR audit.
- Keep contact data in sync between the email platform and the CRM, and resolve mismatches rather than working around them.
Campaign build and execution
- Build campaigns from content supplied by the content team: template assembly, responsive layout, dark mode handling, image and alt text, link tagging.
- Run pre-send quality assurance: rendering across major clients, link and UTM checks, spam scoring, personalisation and merge tag testing, seed list placement checks.
- Schedule and send campaigns, including send time optimisation and volume pacing where appropriate.
- Build and maintain automated journeys such as welcome, onboarding, nurture and re-engagement flows, including the branching and exit logic.
- Set up and run A/B tests on the technical variables you control: send time, from name, sending domain, format and frequency.
Reporting
- Track delivery rate, bounce rate by type, open and click through rates, complaint rate, unsubscribe rate and inbox placement.
- Produce a short regular report on programme health, with a clear read on what changed and why.
- Feed findings back to the content team so that copy and creative decisions are informed by what the data shows.
What we are looking for
Essential
- Two or more years running email operations, with direct hands on responsibility for deliverability.
- Practical experience of domain or IP warm up from cold, not just theory.
- Solid understanding of SPF, DKIM and DMARC, including how to diagnose failures from raw headers and aggregate reports.
- Experience with reputation monitoring tools and a track record of catching problems before they become incidents.
- Confident with list hygiene, suppression management and consent under GDPR.
- Working knowledge of at least one major email platform, for example Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Brevo, HubSpot, Customer.io or an ESP API such as SendGrid, Postmark or Amazon SES.
- HTML and CSS sufficient to build, debug and adapt email templates.
- Methodical, checklist driven and comfortable owning a process end to end without supervision.
Desirable
- Familiarity with Odoo CRM is a solid advantage, particularly its mailing, contact and automation modules and how data flows between Odoo and an external ESP.
- Experience with dedicated IP setups and multi domain sending architectures.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, and reconciliation.
- Experience in UK & US markets for B2C
- Familiarity with AMP for email, list-unsubscribe headers and one click unsubscribe requirements.
Working arrangements
- Approximately 15 hours per week, with the pattern agreed between us. We care about output and reliability rather than fixed hours.
- Remote, with a short weekly catch up and asynchronous updates in between.
- Contract or freelance engagement, with the option to review scope as the programme grows.
