Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Expert with strong expertise in Alation and SQL to lead enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing and administering Alation, establishing governance frameworks, driving data quality initiatives, enabling metadata and lineage management, and collaborating with business and technology stakeholders to improve data trust, accessibility, and adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Alation Platform Management

- Lead the end-to-end implementation, configuration, administration, and optimization of the Alation Data Catalog platform.
- Review and manage catalog and lineage integrations across cloud environments to ensure usability for various user personas.
- Provide recommendations to engineering teams to enrich metadata, improve catalog usability, and enhance search and data discovery capabilities.

Data Governance & Stewardship
- Develop and oversee Data Stewardship workflows and operating models, including BPMN processes, roles, and responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Create, implement, and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Partner with Data Governance leadership to define features, epics, and user stories supporting ongoing governance initiatives.

Data Quality & Compliance
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and validity through data profiling, monitoring,



and implementation of quality rules.
- Work closely with data stewards to manage data assets, resolve data quality issues, and promote responsible data usage.
- Implement and manage access controls, data encryption, and security measures to protect sensitive information and comply with privacy regulations.
- Define and manage user access rights to ensure appropriate data access and prevent unauthorized usage.

Metadata & Lineage Management
- Track and maintain data lineage to understand data origins, movement, and usage across systems.
- Manage metadata to improve data transparency, discoverability, and governance effectiveness.

AI Governance
- Define and implement foundational AI Governance capabilities, including:
- Audit Logging
- Observability
- Explainability
- Model Drift Monitoring
- Ensure governance controls are scalable across enterprise AI and ML models.

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Engage with stakeholders across Engineering, Business, Data, and AI teams to identify dependencies and prioritize governance initiatives.
- Collaborate with IT, business units, legal, compliance, and governance teams to ensure successful adoption and sustainability of governance practices.
- Drive initiatives that improve data trust, accessibility, compliance, and overall data adoption across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Alation Data Catalog implementation and administration.
- Robust SQL proficiency for metadata analysis, data quality validation, and governance reporting.
- Experience in Data Governance frameworks, Metadata Management, and Data Lineage solutions.
- Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and modern data ecosystems.
- Understanding of AI Governance principles and regulatory compliance considerations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
