About the Role

Dalhousie Public School, New Chandigarh, is looking for a creative, energetic and experienced Dance Teacher to lead and develop the school's dance and performing arts programme.The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of dance, excellent performance and choreography skills, and the ability to inspire students across different age groups. The role will involve teaching various forms of dance, preparing students for school performances and competitions, and contributing to the wider cultural and co-curricular programme of the school.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and conduct engaging and age-appropriate dance classes for students across different age groups.
- Teach students dance techniques, movement, rhythm, coordination, expression and stage presence.
- Develop students' confidence, creativity, discipline and teamwork through dance. Choreograph performances for school events, annual functions, celebrations,assemblies and competitions.
- Prepare students for inter-school and other dance competitions.
- Train students in individual and group performances across appropriate dance forms.
- Introduce students to a variety of dance styles and cultural forms.
- Develop structured dance programmes according to students' age, ability and experience.
- Identify and nurture students with particular talent or interest in dance.
- Conduct rehearsals and ensure students are adequately prepared for performances.
- Coordinate with teachers and school administration for events and productions.
- Assist in planning costumes, music, formations, props and other requirements for performances.
- Ensure appropriate warm-up, stretching and safety practices during dance sessions.
- Maintain a positive,



inclusive and encouraging learning environment.
- Monitor student participation and progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Organise or support dance clubs, workshops and enrichment activities.
- Stay updated with contemporary dance trends, choreography techniques and performing arts practices.

- Passion for performing arts and working with children and young adults.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's/Master's degree or diploma in Dance, Performing Arts, Fine Arts or related field will be preferred.
- Formal training or certification in recognised dance forms will be an advantage.
- 3–5 years of relevant teaching/choreography experience, preferably in a school or educational institution.
- Experience in preparing students for school productions and competitions will be preferred.
- Candidates with professional performance or choreography experience will be an added advantage.
