Role Overview

- The Global Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for the overall technology strategy, organisation, and execution across Emeritus globally, including its Lines of Business, joint ventures, and other acquired global entities.
- Reporting to the Co-Founder, this role will work closely with the leadership team to define the technology roadmap, strengthen the technology foundation, and leverage technology as a strategic enabler of business growth, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
- The role will oversee the broader technology function spanning Product Management, Engineering, Technology Infrastructure, IT, Security, Martech, Data Science & Analytics, and AI, while ensuring these capabilities operate as a cohesive and scalable technology ecosystem.
- The CTO will be responsible for building the right technology architecture, organisation, governance, and operating model to support Emeritus' global scale and evolving business needs.
- This role will also play a key role in driving technology integration and standardisation across joint ventures and entities, identifying opportunities to build common platforms, capabilities, and infrastructure across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Global Technology Strategy: Define and execute the global technology strategy and roadmap for Emeritus,



aligned with business priorities, growth plans, and the evolving needs of its Lines of Business and global entities.
- Technology Organisation & Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing global technology organisation across application development, infrastructure, IT, Martech, data and analytics, and AI. Establish the right organisation structure, leadership capabilities, priorities, and operating model to support Emeritus' scale.
- Application Development & Platforms: Own the strategy for Emeritus' applications and technology platforms, ensuring they are scalable, secure, reliable, and capable of supporting evolving learner, customer, and business requirements. Drive engineering excellence, platform modernisation, and effective technology delivery.
- Technology Infrastructure, IT & Security: Own the global technology infrastructure, IT, and cybersecurity environment, including cloud, enterprise systems, networks, security operations, identity and access management, data protection, IT operations, and end-user technology. Establish robust security governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, incident response, and business continuity capabilities. Ensure the technology environment is secure, resilient, scalable, compliant, and cost-effective.
- Data, Analytics & AI: Define and drive the global data, analytics, and AI strategy. Build strong data foundations and governance while identifying and scaling opportunities to use AI, automation, and analytics to improve learner experience, business performance, and operational efficiency.
- Martech & Customer Technology: Own the technology ecosystem supporting marketing, sales, customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Drive effective integration and optimisation of CRM, marketing automation, customer data, and analytics platforms.
- Technology Integration & Transformation: Lead technology integration and transformation initiatives across businesses, including technology due diligence and integration of acquired entities. Identify opportunities to simplify fragmented technology environments and create greater leverage across the organisation.
- Technology Governance & Investment: Establish technology governance, architecture standards, prioritisation frameworks,



and investment discipline. Ensure technology investments are aligned with business priorities and deliver measurable business value and ROI.
- Business Partnership: Partner closely with the Co-Founder, Business Heads, and functional leaders to understand business priorities and translate them into technology strategy and execution. Bring a strong commercial lens to technology decisions and ensure technology remains closely aligned with business outcomes.
- Innovation & Future Readiness: Stay ahead of emerging technologies and identify opportunities to use AI, automation, data, and new technology platforms to create competitive advantage and support the future growth of Emeritus.

Qualifications & Experience

- 15 years of experience in technology, with significant experience in senior technology leadership roles.
- Proven experience as a CTO or Group CTO, with depth of technology and leadership.
- Strong experience leading technology across multiple business units, geographies, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or acquired businesses.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling large, high-performing technology organisations.
- Strong breadth across application development, technology infrastructure, IT, data & analytics, Martech, and emerging technologies.
- Robust understanding of modern technology architecture, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, cybersecurity, data platforms, and digital technologies.
- Demonstrated experience using AI, automation, and data to drive measurable business outcomes.
- Experience driving technology transformation, platform consolidation, and integration across complex technology environments.
- Experience with technology due diligence and post-acquisition integration is preferred.
- Strong commercial orientation with the ability to connect technology strategy and investments to business growth, customer experience, efficiency, and profitability.
- Experience working closely with founders, CEOs, and senior business leadership teams.
- Strong experience leading and developing globally distributed teams.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and executive communication skills.
- Ability to operate with a high degree of independence, influence across businesses, and balance long-term technology strategy with execution.
- Experience in high-growth, technology-led, digital, consumer, education, or platform businesses preferred.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
