Company Description The Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers in India, established in 1920 and headquartered in Kolkata. Role Description This is a full-time, in office Cashier role based in Chennai. The Cashier is responsible for handling day-to-day financial transactions, including receiving payments, issuing receipts, maintaining cash books, and reconciling cash and bank balances. The role involves preparing basic financial records, supporting fee collection and membership-related transactions, and ensuring accurate entry of data into accounting or ERP systems.
The Cashier will work closely with the accounts and administration teams to support financial reporting, assist during audits, and maintain compliance with institutional policies. The position requires a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and courteous interaction with members, visitors, and colleagues.
Qualifications
- Strong cash-handling, basic accounting, and record-keeping skills, with attention to accuracy and reconciliation.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with accounting or ERP software.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with members, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to follow financial procedures, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to institutional policies and controls.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle daily transactions and documentation efficiently.
- Minimum educational qualification such as a diploma or bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a cashier, accounts assistant, or similar finance-related role is preferred.
- Capacity to work on-site in Chennai, with reliability, integrity, and a strong sense of professional responsibility.
