Job Summary The BIW Design Release Engineer (DRE) –

- Underbody is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of underbody Body-in-White (BIW) components and assemblies for Stellantis programs. The role requires robust technical expertise in BIW underbody systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams including design, manufacturing, CAE, quality, suppliers, and program management.

The engineer will drive engineering activities from concept through production release while ensuring compliance with performance, manufacturability, cost, quality, and timing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development &

- Release

- Lead the design and release activities for BIW underbody stampings, reinforcements, cross-members, floor assemblies, and related structures.
- Manage component development from concept to production release.
- Ensure adherence to Stellantis engineering standards, processes, and release requirements.
- Support engineering change management and product lifecycle activities.

Cross-Functional Coordination

- Collaborate with Design, CAE, Manufacturing, Tooling, Quality, Plant, and Supplier teams.
- Drive issue resolution through effective technical discussions and stakeholder management.
- Facilitate design reviews and ensure closure of engineering concerns within program timelines.
- Communicate technical risks, project status, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.

Manufacturing &





- Formability Assessment

- Review sheet metal forming simulation reports and identify manufacturability concerns.
- Understand stamping process limitations and provide design recommendations.
- Support feasibility assessments, tooling reviews, and manufacturing readiness activities.

CAD &

- Product Data Management

- Utilize NX CAD for design reviews, packaging studies, and engineering discussions.
- Work with Teamcenter for release management, document control, part structure management, and engineering changes.

Dimensional Engineering

- Apply GD&T; principles to ensure component functionality and dimensional robustness.
- Participate in tolerance stack-up discussions and dimensional validation activities.
- Support root cause analysis of dimensional and assembly concerns.

Validation &

- Launch Support

- Support prototype builds, validation events, and production launch activities.
- Analyze issues arising during build phases and drive corrective actions.
- Ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables aligned with program milestones.

Required Technical Skills

BIW Engineering

- Strong experience in BIW Underbody design and development.
- Good understanding of:
- Floor assemblies

- Tunnel structures
- Reinforcements
- Stamped sheet metal components

- PLM

- NX (Basic to Intermediate proficiency)

- Engineering release processes

Manufacturing Knowledge

- Sheet metal stamping processes

- Strong GD&T; knowledge and application

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering.
- Experience working on Stellantis programs is highly preferred.
- Exposure to global automotive OEM product development processes.
- Understanding of BIW manufacturing and assembly plant requirements.

Target Profile The ideal candidate should be a seasoned BIW Underbody DRE who can independently drive component release activities, coordinate with multiple engineering functions, review manufacturability inputs, apply GD&T; effectively, and communicate engineering decisions confidently within a Stellantis vehicle development program.
