Role Description The Astronomy Educator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Delhi, India. The educator will deliver engaging astronomy lessons and workshops for school students and other audiences, using tools such as portable planetariums, astronomy labs, and DIY kits. Daily activities include planning and conducting interactive sessions, explaining astronomy concepts in simple and relatable ways, and adapting teaching methods to different age groups and learning levels.
The role also involves coordinating with school staff,
assisting in setting up and operating astronomy equipment, and supporting outreach events and programs. The educator is expected to maintain a secure, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment while promoting curiosity and interest in astronomy and space science.
Qualifications
- Ability to design and organize effective learning experiences, including Lesson Planning and Education-focused activities.
- Strong Teaching and Training skills to conduct interactive sessions, workshops, and demonstrations for diverse age groups.
- Clear and engaging Communication skills, both verbal and written, to explain complex astronomy concepts in an accessible manner.
- Background in science or education (e.g., degree in Physics, Astronomy, Education, or related field) is preferred.
- Experience working with school students or in informal science education, such as camps, workshops, or outreach programs.
- Interest in astronomy and space science, with willingness to continuously learn and stay updated on related topics.
- Ability to work on-site, manage basic technical setup of planetarium and lab equipment, and travel locally to partner schools as needed.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and a collaborative approach to working with educators, school staff, and the Navars team.
