Role: Associate — Strategic Initiatives (two positions)
Location: Patna, Bihar. In person, full-time. Travel to portfolio companies.
Compensation: As per experience and demonstrated value addition The shape of the jobOne KRA: Carry a set of portfolio businesses
Their number is your number, and what happens to those businesses over twelve months is yours to answer for. You do the diagnosis, the numbers, the plan and the execution yourself, because there is nobody to hand any of it to.
The Partners set direction and hold the standard. They do not hand out tasks. You are expected to walk into the review already knowing what's broken and what you're doing about it.
The measure is easy: did the businesses you carry get better, and can you show it in the numbers.
What that means in practiceDiagnosis. Find out what a business is actually carrying. Map the constraints holding growth back, rank them, and make the case for which one comes first — with evidence, not instinct.
The operating layer. An MIS the founder acts on weekly, with defined metrics, owners, and a review day. A two-year plan they'd defend to an investor, not the optimistic one. Three to five outcomes a quarter, owned and measured.
Execution inside the business. Where a function is the binding constraint, take real responsibility for it alongside the founder's team until it can stand alone. This is the part that separates us from consulting.
The founder relationship. You are the person they call. Trust, candour, and the willingness to say the thing they're avoiding.
Capital groundwork. Market sizing, comparables, the historicals a forecast is anchored to,
and the answers to investor questions built before they're asked.
The firm itself. Playbooks, the Founder's Office intern cohort, and whatever internal machinery doesn't exist yet. Early-firm work comes with the seat.
What we're looking for
- You've built or run a business, or carried a P&L; / function with real weight. Ex-founders strongly encouraged.
- Fluent in the numbers. You build the model and the MIS yourself. You don't brief someone to build them.
- You close things. A founder doesn't want a status update; they want the problem gone.
- You can tell a founder they're wrong and still be the person they call the next morning.
- You write. Decisions, findings and reviews get written down where they can be found later.
- You self-direct. Nobody will notice you're stuck unless you say so, and nobody will fill your week for you.
- You want to be in Patna, and you're more interested in an Indian SME doing real revenue than in a logo.
What will make this miserable for you
- Needing a defined brief before you start
- Needing a defined function to be good at
- Preferring analysis to execution
- Needing a team under you to be effective
- Wanting the brand polish, cadence, or comfort of a consulting seat
What you get
- Your own businesses, from month one. Not a workstream. The engagement.
- Direct partner access. You work alongside the founders of the firm.
- Range you cannot get elsewhere at this stage. Several P&Ls;, several industries, several kinds of broken
- A seat that grows with the firm. These are the first two. What they become depends on what you make of them.
