Role Purpose The Associate General Manager – Stores will be responsible for managing the end-to-end stores and inventory function for electric bus and truck operations. The role will ensure optimum availability, control, storage and movement of spare parts, consumables, tools and equipment while maintaining inventory accuracy and cost efficiency.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of stores and inventory management principles along with practical knowledge of bus and truck spare parts, EV components, maintenance equipment and workshop requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stores & Inventory Management
- Manage end-to-end stores operations across depots/workshops.
- Ensure proper receipt, inspection, storage, preservation and issue of materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure system-to-physical stock reconciliation.
- Define and monitor Min-Max, Reorder Level, Safety Stock and ABC/VED classification.
- Control slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete and excess inventory.
- Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices wherever applicable.
2. Bus & Truck Spare Parts Management
- Manage inventory of electric bus and electric truck spare parts.
- Develop strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and EV-related components.
- Manage parts such as:
- Brake system and suspension components
- Steering and axle components
- Tyres and related parts
- Electrical and electronic components
- Battery and BMS-related components
- Motor and controller-related components
- DC-DC converter, charger and power electronics
- Cooling and thermal management components
- Filters, lubricants, consumables and workshop materials
- Ensure availability of critical spares to minimise vehicle downtime.
3. Stores Planning & Forecasting
- Plan inventory requirements based on fleet size, vehicle utilisation, maintenance schedules and historical consumption.
- Analyse consumption trends and forecast future spare-part requirements.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, SCM, Procurement and Operations teams.
- Ensure timely replenishment of critical materials.
4. Warehouse & Depot Operations
- Establish standardised stores processes across locations.
- Ensure proper binning, labelling, material identification and storage practices.
- Optimise warehouse layout and space utilisation.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of high-value and sensitive EV components.
- Monitor material movement between depots, workshops and central stores.
5. Inventory Control & Audit
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical stock audits.
- Investigate and resolve stock variances.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and proper documentation.
- Implement robust controls to prevent pilferage, damage, leakage and unauthorised material movement.
- Coordinate with Finance and Internal Audit for periodic inventory audits.
6. Systems & MIS
- Ensure accurate transactions in ERP/Inventory Management systems.
- Develop dashboards and MIS covering:
- Inventory value
- Stock accuracy
- Spare availability
- Stock ageing
- Consumption
- Stock-outs
- Slow/non-moving inventory
- Inventory turnover
- Drive digitalisation and process improvements in stores operations.
7. Cost & Inventory Optimisation
- Optimise inventory holding cost without compromising spare availability.
- Identify opportunities to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
- Improve inventory turnover and working capital efficiency.
- Monitor repairable/reusable components and ensure proper return-to-store processes.
8. Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop the Stores team across locations.
- Define manpower requirements and work allocation.
- Train team members on stores processes, inventory controls and material handling.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Procurement, SCM, Finance and Operations teams.

Candidate Profile
- Graduate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Automobile, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 10–15 years of experience in Stores, Inventory, Warehouse or Spare Parts Management.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of inventory management and stores principles.
- Hands-on experience managing bus and truck spare parts and workshop equipment.
- Experience in commercial vehicles, automobile, EV fleet, OEM, logistics or transportation is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/SAP or other inventory management systems.
- Good understanding of inventory planning, material classification, stock audits and warehouse controls.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving and people-management skills.
- Willingness to travel across depots/workshop locations as required.
Preferred Candidate Candidates with experience managing large-scale spare-parts inventory for electric buses and trucks, along with strong knowledge of both EV and conventional commercial vehicle components, will be preferred.
