Counsellors at upGrad X play a key role in guiding learners through their educational journey and helping them make informed career decisions.

Role Description The Academic Counsellor is a full-time, in office role based in the Greater Bengaluru Area. The role involves interacting with prospective and current learners to understand their background, goals, and interests, and advising them on suitable upGrad X programs. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting counselling sessions via in-person meetings, phone calls, and digital channels; explaining course structures, outcomes, and career pathways; and supporting learners from initial enquiry through enrollment and onboarding.

The Academic

Counsellor will maintain accurate records in CRM or related systems, follow up with leads, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth learner experience.



The role also includes tracking learner feedback, identifying support needs, and contributing insights to improve counselling processes and learner engagement.

Qualifications

- Strong counselling and advisory skills, with the ability to understand learner needs and recommend appropriate educational pathways.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including clear spoken and written English and the ability to engage with diverse learner profiles.
- Comfort with using digital tools, CRM systems, and basic office software to manage learner information and track interactions.
- Good organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple enquiries, follow-ups, and counselling sessions efficiently.
- Customer-centric mindset with a focus on learner success, empathy, and professional conduct in all interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; degrees in Education, Psychology, Management, or related fields are an advantage.
- Prior experience in academic counselling, student support, admissions, or education services is preferred but not mandatory.
- Willingness to work on-site in the Greater Bengaluru Area and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
