About the Role

At Anaplan, we are pioneering the future of enterprise planning by integrating Generative AI and Agentic AI into our core platform. We are looking for Manager of GenAI & Agentic AI to architect & design GenAI AND Agentic AI systems and lead a small team of high-performing engineers.
We believe that building brilliant AI products requires more than just wrapping Large Language Models (LLMs). The ideal candidate brings a very solid engineering foundation and a deep understanding of system design architecture. You will guide the team not only in advancing our Agentic AI capabilities (like multi-step planning and deterministic tool use) but also in owning the complete data journeyensuring that data flows seamlessly from enterprise sources, gets rigorously cleaned and enriched, and is perfectly model-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

* Architect for Scale & Reliability: Design and manage scalable microservices, asynchronous task queues, and containerized pipelines capable of handling highly concurrent AI model calls.
* Optimize Performance: Drive initiatives for latency and throughput optimization, including semantic caching layers, prompt compression, and token quota management.
* Defensive Design: Implement strict guardrails and validation barriers to ensure enterprise-grade security,
prevent prompt injections, and eliminate system hallucinations.
* End-to-End Pipeline Ownership: Oversee the architecture of the entire data flow: from enterprise ingestion to vector database integration.
* Advanced Data Processing: Guide the team in parsing raw, unstructured data (PDFs, HTML, tables) into clean, standardized formats.
* Semantic Enrichment: Implement robust chunking strategies and metadata tagging to ensure LLMs receive highly targeted, contextual information.
* Hybrid Retrieval Systems: Build and optimize advanced RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures, combining dense vector searches with sparse keyword lookups and reranking models.
* Build Systems That Act: Lead the development of Agentic AI state machines that can break down complex goals, evaluate progress, and self-correct (Reason-and-Act / ReAct loops).
* Deterministic Execution: Equip AI agents with strictly typed APIs, enabling secure code execution, database querying, and automated business processes.
* State & Memory Management: Design contextual short-term and long-term memory systems to support complex, multi-turn enterprise workflows.
* Team Development: Hire, mentor, and grow a team of top-tier software, data, and AI engineers.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product, Data Science,
and core platform engineering teams to seamlessly embed AI capabilities (e.g., Anaplan Analyst, CoModeler, Agent Studio) into the user experience.
* Best Practices: Establish and enforce rigorous software engineering standards, CI/CD pipelines, and testing protocols specifically tailored for non-deterministic AI systems.

Qualifications
--------------
* Engineering Foundation: 10-20 years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, and data architecture, with at least 1-5 years in a technical leadership or management role.
* AI/ML Expertise: Proven hands-on experience building production-grade Generative AI applications, RAG pipelines, and working with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models).
* Agentic Frameworks: Deep understanding of Agentic AI paradigms, state machines, and frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or proprietary orchestration systems.
*Experience with Ragas, Deep Eval, Langsmith
* Data Engineering Mastery: Strong background in ETL/ELT pipelines, vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus), graph databases, and managing unstructured data at scale.
* Cloud & Infrastructure: Proficiency with cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP), Kubernetes, and modern backend languages (Python, Go, or Java).
* Vision & Execution: Ability to balance cutting-edge AI research with pragmatic, highly reliable software engineering delivery.
