Key Responsibilities

- Manage procurement of MS Scrap, HMS, melting scrap, industrial scrap and other ferrous scrap as per plant requirements.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of scrap suppliers, dealers, aggregators and industrial sources.
- Identify current suppliers and develop alternate sourcing channels to ensure consistent material availability.
- Monitor scrap market prices, regional trends, demand-supply conditions and competitor pricing.
- Negotiate purchase prices, payment terms, freight and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Conduct physical inspection and coordinate with Quality / Melting Shop for assessment of scrap quality and suitability.
- Ensure proper segregation and procurement of scrap based on grade, size, weight, contamination and chemical composition.
- Monitor supplier performance regarding quality, quantity, delivery and commercial terms.
- Coordinate with Stores, Logistics, Finance and Production/Melting teams for timely receipt and consumption of scrap.
- Ensure accurate weighment, documentation,



GRN and reconciliation of purchased scrap.
- Control procurement costs through price benchmarking, competitive sourcing and effective negotiations.
- Develop strategies to minimize contamination, moisture, foreign material and quality-related losses.
- Maintain optimum scrap inventory to support uninterrupted production while controlling working capital.
- Prepare regular reports on purchase quantity, purchase price, inventory, market trends and procurement savings.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, approval processes and audit requirements.

Essential Skills

- Strong knowledge of ferrous scrap and steel raw materials.
- Good understanding of scrap grades, quality parameters and market pricing.
- Strong vendor network and sourcing capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial skills.
- Ability to assess scrap quality, weight and contamination.
- Strong analytical and market intelligence skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/SAP.
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills.
