Job Summary
- The Mechanical Projects Execution & Erection In-charge is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing mechanical erection, commissioning and reliability activities at project towards erection and commissioning of Raw Material Handling Systems (RMHS) equipment project, and Mineral Processing facilities.
- The role ensures that erection and installation works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards and engineering specifications and coordination with multidisciplinary teams from concept to commissioning.
Preferred Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
- M.E./M.Tech is an added advantage Experience.
Experience
- 15 to 20+ Years in mechanical project execution, erection and installation from Mining, Cement, Mineral Processing, or Heavy Manufacturing Industry
- Ability to independently handle entire Mechanical function in Projects.
- Must have hands-on experience in Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) projects for Mining, Iron Ore Beneficiation, Pellet Plant, Cement, Steel, or Bulk Material Handling industries.
- Proven experience in managing large EPC contractors and multidisciplinary construction teams.
- Solid knowledge of engineering designs and process flow understanding to make the best of the designs,
- Execute RCC structures, structural steel works, and heavy equipment installations.
- Preferred Industry Experience: RMHS, Mineral processing industry, Cement, Mining, Steel
Key Responsibilities
Erection & Commissioning
- Lead mechanical execution, erection and installation, and commissioning of assigned projects.
- Plan and execute mechanical erection activities as per engineering designs and project schedule.
- Supervise installation of equipment, piping, structural components, and mechanical systems.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical,
instrumentation, procurement, and commissioning teams.
- Review engineering drawings, layouts, P&IDs;, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
- Ensure work is carried out in compliance with approved drawings and quality standards.
- Monitor daily site progress and prepare progress reports.
- Manage contractors, subcontractors, and site workforce.
- Ensure availability of materials, tools, equipment, and manpower.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues during erection.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, permit-to-work systems, and company HSE policies.
- Participate in client meetings, site coordination meetings, and progress reviews.
- Verify measurements, material receipts and certify contractor bills as required.
- Coordinate mechanical testing, alignment, hydrotesting, flushing, and commissioning activities.
- Maintain project documentation, inspection records, and material reconciliation.
- Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to avoid delays.
- Ensure timely project completion within the approved budget.
- Conduct trial runs and stabilize plant operations
- Develop machine operating SOPS, maintenance schedules, shut down planning processes, etc.
Engineering & Design coordination and execution:
- Review structural drawings, GA drawings, BOQs, BBS and mechanical layouts.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, and EPC contractors.
- Ensure compliance with IS codes, design specifications, and project standards.
- Resolve engineering and construction issues during execution.
- Ensure structural integrity and construction quality for all the works executed.
Contract & Vendor Management
- Ability to mobilize and manage mechanical contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Review contractor progress and certify work completion.
- Monitor contractor productivity, quality, and safety performance.
- Evaluate vendor quotations and technical proposals.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement QA/QC procedures for all mechanical works.
- Ensure quality of concrete, structural steel, earthworks, finishing activities and any other assigned areas.
- Conduct inspections and quality audits.
- Maintain construction documentation and records.
Cost Control
- Prepare and monitor mechanical project budgets.
- Control material consumption and project expenditures.
- Verify contractor bills and quantities.
- Identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and HSE requirements.
- Promote a Zero Accident culture across construction activities.
- Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
- Ensure adherence to safe work practices and permit systems.
Team Management
- Lead Engineers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, and Contractors.
- Allocate manpower and equipment effectively.
- Mentor and develop engineering teams.
- Monitor project performance and productivity.
Technical Skills
- Preparing and reading engineering drawings
