Safety Manager – FRP Products & Manufacturing

1. Job PurposeThe Safety Manager will be responsible for implementing and maintaining Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (EHS) standards across the FRP manufacturing facility. The role will ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments, implement preventive measures and promote a strong safety culture among employees and contract workers.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Management
- Develop and implement factory safety policies, procedures and SOPs.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions.
- Prepare and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Risk Assessments.
- Ensure proper use of PPE by employees and contract workers.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near-miss cases.
- Prepare Root Cause Analysis and corrective/preventive action plans.
- Monitor implementation of safety recommendations.
FRP Manufacturing Safety
- Ensure safe handling of resins, catalysts, solvents, fiberglass and other chemicals.
- Monitor ventilation and exposure-control measures in FRP production areas.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling and handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Implement safety procedures for cutting, grinding, moulding and fabrication activities.
- Ensure machine guarding and safe operating procedures.
- Control risks related to dust, fumes, noise, fire and chemical exposure.
Fire & Emergency Safety
- Develop and maintain Emergency Response Plans.
- Conduct regular fire drills and emergency mock drills.
- Inspect fire extinguishers, hydrants,
alarms and other firefighting systems.
- Ensure emergency exits, evacuation routes and assembly points are clearly maintained.
- Coordinate with external agencies for fire and emergency preparedness.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act / Karnataka Factories Rules, safety regulations and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Maintain statutory safety registers, records and inspection reports.
- Coordinate with Factory Inspectorate and other government authorities during inspections.
- Ensure timely closure of statutory safety observations.
Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety induction training for current employees.
- Conduct toolbox talks and regular safety awareness programs.
- Train employees on PPE, fire safety, chemical handling, machine safety and emergency procedures.
- Maintain training records and competency documentation.
Contractor Safety
- Monitor safety compliance of contract labour and contractors.
- Conduct contractor safety induction.
- Ensure contractors follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conduct regular contractor safety audits.
Safety Audits & Reporting
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly safety inspections and audits.
- Prepare monthly EHS performance reports.
- Track safety KPIs and corrective actions.
- Maintain records of accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, HR and Administration teams to improve workplace safety.

- 4. Educational QualificationDegree / Diploma in Safety Engineering / Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety / Occupational Health & Safety.
- Recognized Industrial Safety qualification preferred.
- Engineering qualification with additional Safety certification will be an advantage.
- 5. Experience5–10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing / industrial safety.
- Experience in FRP, polymer, chemical, plastics, engineering or similar manufacturing industries will be preferred.
- Experience in handling factory safety, fire safety, chemical safety and contractor safety.

7. Preferred Candidate ProfileCandidates with experience in FRP / GRP / Polymer / Plastic / Chemical / Manufacturing / Engineering industries will be preferred.
The candidate should be capable of independently managing the complete safety function of a manufacturing unit, coordinating with production and maintenance teams, and ensuring a safe working environment for employees and contract workers.
