Agronomy Advisor & Farmer Relationship Executive
About the Role
Mysore Fertiliser Company is looking for an Agronomy Advisor & Farmer Relationship Executive to provide professional agricultural advice to farmers through phone calls and WhatsApp.
The person will be responsible for understanding farmers’ crop-related problems, analysing photographs/videos shared by farmers, providing appropriate agronomic recommendations, and maintaining detailed farmer records in the CRM.
This is a work-from-home role, but requires excellent communication, responsiveness and the ability to confidently interact with farmers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Farmer Advisory
* Receive and respond to farmer calls and WhatsApp enquiries.
* Understand the farmer’s crop, crop stage, acreage, location and cultivation practices.
* Ask the right diagnostic questions before making recommendations.
* Request and analyse photographs/videos of crop problems.
* Identify likely pest, disease, nutrient deficiency or other crop-related issues.
* Recommend appropriate:
* Fertilizers and nutrients
* Insecticides
* Fungicides
* Herbicides
* Bio-products
* Crop management practices
* Explain dosage, application method, water requirement, timing and precautions clearly.
* Advise farmers on crop nutrition, disease prevention and yield improvement.
* Follow up with farmers after recommendations to understand the outcome.
2. Farmer CRM Management
Every farmer interaction must be properly recorded in the CRM.
The advisor will maintain:
* Farmer name and contact details
* Location
* Crop and acreage
* Crop age/stage
* Problem reported
* Photos/videos received
* Diagnosis
* Recommendation given
* Products purchased
* Date of application
* Follow-up date
* Result/outcome
The objective is to build a long-term digital history for every farmer.
3. Farmer Relationship Management
* Build trust and long-term relationships with farmers.
* Proactively follow up with important farmers and ongoing crop cases.
* Identify recurring crop problems.
* Inform farmers about appropriate seasonal practices.
* Ensure farmers receive timely responses.
* Escalate complicated cases to the senior agronomist/technical team.
4. Knowledge Development
* Continuously update knowledge of crops, pests, diseases, fertilizers and crop protection products.
* Help build and improve the company’s agricultural knowledge base.
* Document new farmer problems and successful solutions.
* Contribute to crop-wise advisory protocols and spray/nutrition programs.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
* Has an M.Sc. in Agriculture or a related agricultural discipline.
* Has strong practical knowledge of crop production and crop protection.
* Can identify common pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies.
* Understands pesticide/fungicide/herbicide application and dosage.
* Is comfortable speaking to farmers over the phone.
* Can communicate technical information in simple language.
* Is comfortable using WhatsApp, CRM systems, Excel/Google Sheets and a laptop.
* Is patient and listens carefully before giving advice.
* Has a strong problem-solving approach.
* Can work independently from home.
Additional Advantage
* Knowledge of Karnataka agriculture and major crops.
* Ability to communicate in Kannada and English.
* Experience in agricultural inputs, agronomy, crop advisory or agri-retail.
* Experience diagnosing crop problems using photographs.
* 1–3 years of farmer-facing experience.
Important Quality Requirement
The advisor must not recommend a chemical simply because a farmer asks for one.
The advisor should first understand the crop, symptoms, crop stage, previous applications and other relevant information before making a recommendation.
Technical accuracy and farmer trust are more significant than product sales.
