Job Description – Account Manager

Reporting To: Branch Manager / Finance Manager / General Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Account Manager to manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the showroom. The role will be responsible for maintaining accurate books of accounts, monitoring receivables and payables, handling showroom transactions, coordinating with the finance team and ensuring timely compliance with statutory and company requirements.

The ideal candidate should have experience in automobile dealership accounting, strong knowledge of GST, TDS, banking and reconciliations, and good working knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Showroom Accounting: Manage daily accounting transactions related to vehicle sales, accessories, insurance, finance and other dealership activities.

- Verify sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes, debit notes and supporting documents.
- Ensure accurate posting of all transactions in the accounting system.
- Maintain proper records of cash, bank and credit transactions.
- Monitor daily collections and deposits.

2. Receivables & Payables: Monitor customer outstanding balances and ensure timely collection.

- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Track payments to vendors, suppliers and service providers.
- Prepare ageing reports for receivables and payables.
- Coordinate with the sales and management teams for pending payments and documentation.

3. Bank & Ledger Reconciliation : Perform daily/weekly bank reconciliation.

- Reconcile customer, vendor and general ledger accounts.
- Identify and resolve accounting mismatches promptly.
- Maintain accurate schedules for advances, deposits and outstanding balances.

GST, TDS & Statutory Compliance: Assist in preparation and filing of GST returns and related reconciliations.

- Ensure correct GST treatment on sales and purchase transactions.
- Handle TDS accounting, deductions and documentation.
- Coordinate with auditors and consultants for statutory requirements.
- Maintain supporting documents for audits and assessments.

5. Vehicle Sales & Dealership Controls : Verify vehicle sales documentation and accounting entries.

- Reconcile vehicle invoices, customer advances, finance receipts and final settlements.
- Coordinate with the sales team, OEM/dealer finance team and banks/NBFCs regarding payment settlements.
- Monitor pending vehicle-related receivables and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to company accounting and internal-control procedures.

6. MIS & Reporting : Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial reports.

- Provide management with reports on collections, outstanding receivables, payables and cash/bank balances.
- Assist in preparation of monthly closing statements.
- Analyse variances and highlight unusual or incorrect transactions to management.

7. Audit & Internal Controls : Support internal, statutory and OEM/dealership audits.

- Maintain proper documentation and accounting records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.
- Identify control gaps and recommend corrective action.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Commerce / Accounting / Finance (B.Com preferred).





- CA Inter / M.Com / MBA Finance will be an added advantage.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably in an automobile dealership/showroom.
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS, bank reconciliation and general accounting principles.
- Experience with Tally / ERP / dealership accounting software.
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel.

Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in Maruti Suzuki / NEXA / Arena / True Value or other automobile dealership environments will be preferred, particularly those familiar with vehicle invoicing, customer advances, finance settlements and dealership accounting processes.
