3D Printing Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Design & Modeling:

- Develop 3D models and prototypes using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software Fusion 360.
- Convert existing designs into printable 3D files (STL or other formats).

3D Printing Setup & Operation:

- Set up, calibrate, and operate various 3D printers (FDM, SLA) and other additive manufacturing equipment.
- Choose appropriate printing materials (plastics, metals, composites, etc.) based on the project requirements.
- Monitor the printing process to ensure successful execution, troubleshooting problems when they arise.

Post-Processing:

- Clean and finish 3D printed objects, which may involve removing supports, sanding, and applying coatings.
- Perform any necessary assembly or integration with other parts or systems.

Quality Control & Testing:

- Inspect 3D printed parts for accuracy, precision, and defects.
- Perform stress tests or simulations on printed models to verify durability and functionality.
- Ensure adherence to specifications and industry standards.

Collaboration:

- Work closely with team to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise on 3D printing solutions.
- Assist in the development of technical documentation, including setup instructions, user manuals,



and best practices.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

- Maintain 3D printers and other equipment, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
- Troubleshoot hardware or software issues and repair or replace components as needed.

Experience: Previous experience with 3D printing, CAD design, and additive manufacturing processes.

Skills:

- Proficiency in 3D modeling and CAD software.
- Knowledge of 3D printing technologies and materials.
- Familiarity with machine setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Robust problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Attention to detail and a quality-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with advanced 3D printing technologies (e.g., FDM, SLA).
- Knowledge of software such as Cura, or Simplify3D for slicing models.
- Background in rapid prototyping or additive manufacturing in a production environment.
- Working Conditions: Typically based in a workshop, laboratory, or manufacturing environment.
- May require standing, bending, and handling materials.
- Potential exposure to chemicals, resins, or other manufacturing materials.
