A VMM Application Engineer develops, programs, and optimizes non-contact optical inspection solutions for precision measurement. They analyze component drawings, apply GD&T;, conduct customer machine demonstrations, and provide technical support. This role requires expertise in metrology software and often involves installation and troubleshooting.
Educational Qualification: DME (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering) or BE Mechanical/Automobile.
Key Skills:
· Education: DME (Diploma in Mechanical Engineering) or BE Mechanical/Automobile.
· Experience: ~ 1 to 2 years’ experience in QC/Standard Room within an automotive or SPM (Special Purpose Machine) manufacturing industry.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD drafting, understanding of Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T;) and
· Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) software such as e.g. PC-DMIS, Calypso and others or a VMM-specific software such as QMS3D, MetroSoft, or similar.
· Other: Valuable communication skills for customer interaction,
self-starter, and strong attention to detail and ability to lead a team of at least three members
Major responsibilities:
· VMM Programming & Operation: Program and operate VMM to check dimensions of components (2D and 3D).
· Application Development: Create measuring routines/recipes for new parts based on engineering drawings and GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
· Inspection & Testing: Perform incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final quality control audits on parts.
· Customer Support: Provide technical support for VMM installation, demonstrations, and training to clients.
· Calibration & Maintenance: Perform routine calibration of VMM and other inspection measurement and test equipment (IMTE).
· Reporting: Prepare detailed inspection reports (PDIR) and maintain quality records.
