Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to oversee and optimize the mechanical operations of our steel manufacturing plant. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, continuous operation, and preventative maintenance of critical steel mill machinery, including blast furnaces, continuous casting machines, rolling mills, and heavy material handling equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Plant Maintenance & Reliability: Direct daily, preventative, and predictive maintenance schedules for heavy mechanical machinery (e.g., rolling mills, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, gearboxes, overhead cranes, piping, and furnaces).
Troubleshooting & Emergency Response: Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime and implement long-term technical solutions.
Overhaul & Turnaround Execution: Plan, execute, and monitor major shutdown overhauls, capital expenditure (Cap Ex) installations, and equipment upgrades.
Spare Parts & Inventory: Manage critical spares inventory, draft technical specifications for mechanical procurement,
and evaluate vendor proposals.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict OSHA/industrial safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and environmental regulations across all maintenance operations.
Process Optimization: Implement continuous improvement strategies (TPM/5S) to improve equipment lifespan, fuel/power efficiency, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 3-7 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a steel manufacturing plant, foundry, or heavy metal industry.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of heavy hydraulic systems, lubrication, industrial pumps, gearboxes, and power transmission.
Proficiency in reading technical blueprints, isometric drawings, and hydraulic circuit diagrams.
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software and basic AutoCAD/CAD tools.
Certifications: Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or OSHA certification is a plus.
Shift Work: Ability to work in rotating shifts and handle on-call emergency breakdowns.
