Contract and Procurement Expert, Kochi

SYSTRA India, a global leader in engineering and consulting for public transport infrastructure, is looking for a Contract and Procurement Expert to join the Kochi Metro Project. With over 60 years of expertise and a valuable presence in India since 1957, SYSTRA is committed to technical excellence and improving transportation and urban infrastructure efficiency.

SYSTRA has been a key partner in over 80% of metro projects across major Indian cities, including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi. As the General Consultant (GC) for Phase-II of the Kochi Metro Rail Project, SYSTRA offers a unique chance to contribute to this transformative infrastructure development.

Missions/Main Duties

As a Contract and Procurement Expert, you will:

- Assist the Project Director in the management and interpretation of all Contracts signed between the Client and various parties, including Detail Design Consultants, Construction Contractors, Design Build Contractors, and Suppliers.
- Assist in the tendering & procurement of Contractors/DDC, systems, rolling stock depot equipment, and other services.
- Monitor, review & interpret all correspondence from Contractors on contractual matters and advise the Project Director on the appropriate line of response.
- Review and analyze requests from Contractors and/or Consultants for variations, and meticulously check stage payments and associated statutory & contractual recoveries.




- Advise the Project Director on matters that must be referred to the Client for acceptance or final decision, as per the contract.
- Assist the Project Director in all contract closure activities at the end of the project.

Profile/Skills

- Education: Graduate in any Engineering discipline and MBA/Post Graduate/PG Diploma in Management.
- Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the relevant field.
- Out of this, a minimum of 6 years of experience should be in tendering / procurement and contract management in Metro Rail / Major Infrastructure projects, especially those funded by bilateral or multi-lateral agencies.
- Communication: Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
- Collaboration: Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to problem-solve, especially in an integrated project delivery environment, applying industry best practices.
- Leadership Qualities: A self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills, a proven ability to lead a team effort, make independent decisions, and be a good troubleshooter. You should also have the ability to influence without authority.
