Job Summary

Vendor Development Executive will be responsible for supporting procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials required for manufacturing operations. The role involves supplier identification, vendor coordination, component costing, drawing review, process planning discussions with suppliers, inventory optimization, sample evaluation, and commercial negotiations. The incumbent will work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Stores, and Planning teams to ensure uninterrupted material availability while maintaining quality and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Sourcing

- Source materials, components, and services as per production and project requirements.
- Maintain and develop a database of suppliers for various commodities including electrical, electronic, fabricated, machined, sheet metal, casting, forging, and bought-out components.
- Float RFQs, obtain quotations, and prepare comparative statements.
- Coordinate with suppliers for timely material delivery and issue resolution.
- Develop alternate vendors to mitigate supply risks.

Vendor Development & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers based on quality, delivery, cost, and technical capability.
- Conduct supplier visits and coordinate vendor audits.
- Monitor supplier performance and recommend improvement actions.
- Maintain solid working relationships with existing suppliers.

Technical Coordination
- Read and understand engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding manufacturing feasibility, process planning, and technical requirements.
- Work with Design, Production,



and Quality teams for supplier development activities.
- Support localization and value engineering initiatives.

Costing & Commercial Activities
- Analyze costing of electronic, electrical, mechanical, fabricated, and machined parts.
- Understand material cost drivers and identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, lead times, and discounts within approved limits.
- Maintain awareness of price lists, discount structures, and market trends.

Sample Development & Quality Coordination
- Coordinate procurement and development of sample parts from suppliers.
- Arrange sample quantity trials and testing in coordination with Quality and Production teams.
- Follow up on corrective actions arising from sample evaluation and approval processes.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality requirements.

PPAP Management
- Support PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities with suppliers.
- Collect and review PPAP documentation from suppliers.
- Coordinate with Quality and Engineering teams for part approvals.
- Ensure supplier submissions meet customer and organizational requirements.

Inventory & Material Planning Support
- Coordinate with Planning and Stores departments to ensure material availability.
- Monitor inventory levels and support inventory reduction initiatives.




- Assist in controlling excess, non-moving, and obsolete inventory.
- Track supplier lead times and ensure adherence to delivery schedules.

Documentation & ERP
- Generate and maintain purchase orders and procurement records.
- Maintain supplier documentation, contracts, and commercial records.
- Update procurement transactions in ERP/SAP systems.
- Prepare procurement-related MIS reports and analyses.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
- Diploma candidates with relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in Procurement, Vendor Development, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain functions.
- Experience in Wind Turbine Generator, Electrical Equipment, Motors, Generators, Heavy Engineering, Capital Equipment, or Manufacturing Industry preferred.
