Job Description About this Role
n Basil is looking for an Art Director who can translate ideas into compelling visual stories across motion, video and static content.
n This is not a video-editor-only position. You will be responsible for the creative direction of reels, digital films, explainers, campaign videos and motion-led social content—from concept and storyboard through production and final delivery.
n You should be equally comfortable developing an original visual idea, presenting it to stakeholders, directing a shoot and guiding editors, designers and motion artists during post-production.

n What you will do
n

n Develop visual concepts for integrated campaigns, social media, reels, digital films and branded content.
n

n Translate creative briefs into treatments, mood boards, storyboards, style frames and shot references.
n Art-direct short-form and long-form video content from pre-production through post-production.
n Create repeatable visual formats and content properties for social platforms.
n

n Direct or supervise shoots, working with producers, directors, photographers, DOPs, stylists and production partners.
n

n Guide video editors, motion designers, graphic designers, illustrators and external specialists.
n Review edits, animation, typography, transitions, colour grading, sound design and visual effects.
n Ensure consistency between static campaign assets and their motion or video adaptations.
n Work closely with copywriters and strategists to strengthen scripts, hooks, narratives and visual storytelling.
n

n Present concepts clearly and explain the creative reasoning behind them.
n

n Estimate creative effort and work within production budgets and timelines.
n

n Participate in pitches, campaign presentations and client reviews.
n

n Stay current with social formats, visual culture, filmmaking techniques, motion-design trends and AI-assisted creative tools.
n

n Mentor junior designers and help improve the overall quality of the creative team’s output.

n What we are looking for
n

n n 6-8 years of experience in an advertising, digital, content, design or integrated communications agency.
n At least 2–3 years of experience independently art-directing motion or video content.
n A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking across video, motion and static design.
n Experience creating reels, social-first videos, digital campaigns, explainers and branded films.
n Strong understanding of composition, typography, colour, pacing, framing and visual hierarchy.
n Ability to develop storyboards and clearly communicate the intended look, movement and narrative.
n Practical knowledge of video production, shoot planning and post-production workflows.
n Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
n Familiarity with Figma, 3D workflows, generative AI or AI video tools would be valuable.
n Strong communication, presentation and feedback skills.
n Ability to manage multiple projects without compromising creative quality or timelines.

n Compensation
n ₹12–14 lakh per annum , depending on portfolio quality, conceptual ability and production experience
