About the Role We are looking for a strong early-career backend engineer to help maintain core legacy systems while actively participating in the modernization of our platform architecture. You will work on a hybrid stack, managing existing PHP-based services and building new, highly scalable microservices in Node.js. This is a great opportunity to work on high-traffic B2C applications and gain hands-on experience with modern architectural transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain robust backend APIs and services using both PHP and Node.js.
- Assist in migrating legacy monolithic PHP applications to a modern, decoupled Node.js microservices architecture.
- Write productive, secure, and reusable server-side code.
- Integrate data storage solutions,
primarily focusing on relational databases (MySQL) and caching mechanisms (Redis).
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance for low-latency API responses.
- Collaborate with frontend teams to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
Required Tech Stack & Qualifications
- Languages & Frameworks: Hands-on experience with PHP (Laravel or CodeIgniter) and Node.js (Express.js or NestJS).
- Databases: Strong understanding of SQL, specifically MySQL, including query optimization and database design.
- API Design: Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Tools & Version Control: Proficiency with Git, GitHub/GitLab, and basic familiarity with Linux command-line environments.
- Architecture: Basic understanding of MVC patterns and microservices architecture.
