Role: Sr. Purview Engineer (L2 Engineer)

We are looking for a Microsoft Purview L2 Engineer to implement, administer, troubleshoot, and optimize Microsoft Purview controls, support compliance investigations, mentor L1 analysts, and assist with DPDP Act control mapping to strengthen data governance, regulatory compliance, access control, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage L2 support activities for Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 Compliance solutions, including incident troubleshooting and service optimization.
- Implement, configure, administer, and optimize Microsoft Purview solutions across the organization.
- Configure, tune, and optimize DLP policies, Sensitivity Labels, Retention Labels, and other compliance controls.
- Investigate and resolve escalated incidents related to DLP, information protection, data classification, retention, audit, and compliance events.
- Support compliance investigations using Microsoft Purview Audit, Content Search, eDiscovery (Standard & Premium), and Compliance Manager.
- Assist in implementing and mapping technical controls aligned with the DPDP Act and organizational compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Security, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and IT teams to strengthen data governance and information protection.




- Develop and maintain SOPs, operational runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base documentation.
- Mentor and guide L1 analysts on Microsoft Purview operations and troubleshooting best practices.
- Monitor compliance posture, policy effectiveness, and security alerts, recommending continuous improvements to enhance data protection.

Required Skills & Experience 4–6 years of experience in Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance and Microsoft Purview.

Strong hands-on expertise in:

- Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Endpoint DLP
- Data Classification and Sensitive Information Types
- Sensitivity Labels and Auto-labeling
- Data Lifecycle Management (Retention Policies, Retention Labels, and Records Management)
- Insider Risk Management (IRM)
- eDiscovery (Standard & Premium), Audit, and Content Search
- Compliance Manager
- Data Map and Unified Catalog
- Good understanding of data governance, information protection, privacy, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
- Familiarity with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and compliance control mapping.
- Experience in L2 incident handling, troubleshooting, and operational support for Microsoft Purview and Microsoft 365 Compliance.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Entra ID integration is an added advantage.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications

- Microsoft Certified: Information Security Administrator Associate (SC 401) - Preferred.
- Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400) - preferred.
- Microsoft Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
- Microsoft Security Operations Analyst (SC-200)
