Job Description About UDIT
n UDIT is India's first university where design, management, and technology converge. We are building an institution that redefines how creative education engages with industry, sustainability, and real-world problem-solving.
n About the Role
n This is not a conventional academic leadership role.
n As Assistant/Associate Professor- Product Design, you will own the end-to-end academic and strategic direction of the Product Design program — from curriculum design and faculty capability to student outcomes and industry integration.
n You will be responsible for building a program that is deeply rooted in craft, driven by engineering logic, and aligned with the future of sustainable production systems.
n Key Responsibilities
n 1. Program Leadership & Academic Ownership
n n Lead the design, delivery, and continuous evolution of the Product Design curriculum
n Ensure alignment with UDIT's philosophy of interdisciplinary, practice-led learning
n Drive academic rigor, learning outcomes, and assessment frameworks
n n 2. Curriculum & Pedagogy Development
n n Build a curriculum that integrates:
n Engineering fundamentals
n Craft-based practices
n Sustainable and circular design principles
n Introduce project-based and industry-linked learning experiences
n n 3. Faculty Development & Team Leadership
n n Mentor and develop a team of faculty and visiting practitioners
n Build teaching capability aligned with contemporary design and manufacturing practices
n Drive a culture of experimentation, critique, and iteration
n n 4. Student Outcomes & Industry Readiness
n n Ensure students graduate with strong portfolios and real-world problem-solving capability
n Enable exposure to:
n Product development cycles
n Manufacturing ecosystems
n Craft clusters and material exploration
n Support placements, internships, and industry collaborations
n n 5.
Industry & Ecosystem Engagement
n n Build partnerships with:
n Product companies
n Craft communities
n Manufacturing units
n Anchor live projects, workshops, and collaborative studios
n n 6. Institutional Contribution
n n Contribute to UDIT's larger vision of building a new-age university
n Collaborate across programs (technology, management, design)
n Participate in key academic and strategic initiatives
n n Key Requirements
n Educational Background: A foundational degree in Architecture.
n Minimum Qualification: A Master's degree specifically in Industrial/Product Design.
n Qualified Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in product development. Your portfolio should demonstrate:
n n A varied range of product categories.
n Significant work within traditional crafts.
n A commitment to sustainable production and manufacturing methods.
n Experience in the renewal of products through repair and circular design principles.
n Teaching Experience: Ideally 3 to 5 years of experience in an academic or clinical teaching environment.
