Job Description GURKAARI™ | Timeless • Elegant • Ethnic

n GURKAARI™ is an emerging premium Indian women’s fashion and lifestyle brand preparing its debut collection. We are looking for a talented Fashion & Technical Designer with genuine experience in women’s Indian ethnic wear to collaborate with us on the development of our launch collection.
n
n This is not a graphic illustration-only role. We need someone who understands both the creative and practical development of garments, from concept through sampling and production readiness.
n
n THE ROLE
n
n You will work closely with GURKAARI’s Design Lead to translate creative concepts, sketches, references and initial design directions into distinctive, commercially viable and manufacturable garments.
n
n The initial project will focus on approximately 15 women’s ethnic-wear designs, including Punjabi suits, kurta sets, coordinated sets, bottoms and dupattas.
n
n KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
n
n • Develop and refine women’s Indian ethnic-wear concepts.
n • Create fashion sketches and technical flats.
n • Advise on silhouettes, fabrics, colours, trims and garment construction.
n • Develop embroidery and embellishment concepts and placement specifications.
n • Understand techniques such as resham work, zari, zardozi, dabka, sequins, beads and other relevant Indian surface embellishments.
n • Prepare production-ready technical specifications and tech packs.
n • Develop measurement/POM specifications and garment construction details.
n • Define fabrics, linings, trims, closures and other components.
n • Work with tailors, pattern masters, embroiderers and sampling vendors.
n • Participate in sample reviews, fittings and fit corrections.
n • Help translate master designs into a reliable made-to-measure production process.
n • Maintain consistency between approved designs and final samples.

n REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
n
n We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on experience in:
n
n • Women’s Indian and Punjabi ethnic wear
n • Punjabi suits and kurta sets
n • Salwar, straight trousers, palazzos and related bottoms
n • Dupattas and their finishing and embellishment
n • Indian textiles and fabrics
n • Embroidery and surface ornamentation
n • Garment construction
n • Technical flats and tech packs
n • Measurement specifications
n • Sampling and fittings
n • Made-to-measure and custom-fit garments
n
n Experience limited primarily to Western wear, T-shirts, sportswear or fashion illustration will not be sufficient for this project.

n 6. Availability for the next 6–8 weeks.
n 7. Your preferred commercial arrangement or project fee.

n ENGAGEMENT

n Project-based / Freelance Contract
n
n Chandigarh–Mohali–Ludhiana candidates are preferred because the project may require physical participation in selected sampling, fitting and product-development sessions. Strong candidates from other locations (Delhi-NCR, Mumbai etc.) may also be considered based on their experience in required categories.

n The successful designer may have the chance to continue working with GURKAARI on future collections as well.
