Senior Accountant & Finance Operations Lead

Salary: 50,000 - 55,000 per month (INR)

Location: Oshiwara Andheri West, Mumbai

Schedule: Full-time, office-based | Monday to Saturday 10:00 am to 6:30 pm

About the Role

We are looking for a highly capable, commercially minded and forward-thinking Senior Accountant to take ownership of the accounting and financial performance systems within our growing fashion and ecommerce business.

This is not a traditional back-office accounting position. You will work closely with the Founder as a trusted financial right handcreating greater visibility across the business, strengthening financial controls and ensuring that potential issues are identified and escalated early.

The right person will be self-directed, analytical and solutions-focused. You should be able to manage the complete accounting cycle independently, produce explicit management reporting and translate financial information into practical recommendations.

We are looking for someone who will question costs, investigate gaps, improve systems and continuously find smarter and more efficient ways of working.

Key Responsibilities

- Take complete ownership of bookkeeping, ledgers and financial record accuracy
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, payroll and reimbursements
- Oversee bank, payment-gateway and transaction reconciliations
- Independently manage the complete month-end closing process
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and end-of-financial-year reports
- Build and maintain cash-flow forecasts, budgets and financial projections
- Produce clear, Founder-ready financial dashboards and performance reports
- Analyse profitability by product, collection, sales channel and market
- Maintain accurate inventory accounting and landed-cost calculations
- Monitor margins, operating expenses and movements across key cost lines
- Identify financial leakage,



unnecessary spending and cost-saving opportunities
- Research suppliers, compare quotations and support commercial negotiations
- Coordinate GST, TDS, statutory compliance, audits and external financial advisers
- Maintain a clear calendar for compliance, reporting and payment deadlines
- Investigate discrepancies and independently resolve accounting issues
- Highlight and escalate financial risks, gaps and unusual movements
- Present identified issues alongside practical recommendations and solutions
- Strengthen internal controls and improve the accuracy of financial information
- Review existing accounting and operational processes to find efficiencies
- Integrate AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude into reporting, analysis and recurring finance processes
- Work closely with the Founder to improve the companys overall accounting and performance systems

Skills and Experience

- Degree in accounting, commerce, finance or a closely related field
- Approximately 5–7 years of practical accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls and statutory requirements
- Demonstrated experience independently managing month-end and year-end closing
- Advanced proficiency in Tally and Microsoft Excel
- Strong experience with accounts payable, receivable and bank reconciliations
- Experience managing cash-flow forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting
- Ability to interpret financial results and communicate meaningful commercial insights
- Experience coordinating with auditors,



tax advisers and compliance professionals
- Confidence analysing costs, margins, inventory and business performance
- Ability to independently investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using, or the ability to implement, AI-assisted financial workflows
- Experience with Shopify, ecommerce, fashion, retail or manufacturing is strongly preferred

You notice patterns, question inconsistencies and understand how financial decisions affect the wider business. When you identify an issue, you investigate it, assess its impact and bring the Founder possible solutions rather than simply highlighting another problem.

You are comfortable working independently without waiting for every task to be assigned. At the same time, you enjoy collaborating closely with an entrepreneurial Founder and contributing to decisions across costs, suppliers, inventory, margins and growth.
