Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Robotics Software Engineer to develop and improve the mobility stack of a differential-drive service robot operating in dynamic indoor environments. The role requires strong coding skills and practical experience solving real-world localization, navigation,
motion-control, and obstacle-avoidance challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop reliable robotics software using ROS 2, C++, and Python.
- Implement and tune SLAM, localization, Nav2, path planning, motion control, costmaps, obstacle avoidance, and recovery behaviours.
- Integrate LiDAR, depth cameras, IMUs, wheel encoders, and motor controllers.
- Resolve odometry drift, TF errors, localization loss, oscillation, blocked paths, and planner or controller failures.
- Ensure safe and smooth navigation around people, tables, chairs, narrow passages, and moving obstacles.
- Test and validate navigation performance on a physical robot.
- Collaborate with embedded, electronics, mechanical, and product teams.
Required Qualifications
- Practical experience with ROS 2, Linux, Nav2, C++, and Python.
- Robust understanding of differential-drive kinematics, odometry, TF2, URDF, SLAM, localization, sensor fusion, and feedback control.
- Ability to debug robot behaviour using RViz, rosbag, logs, and real sensor data.
- Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical
- Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
Mandatory Project Experience
- Minimum one completed real-world project involving the mobility or autonomous navigation of a physical differential-drive robot, AMR, AGV, or service robot.
- The candidate must have personally developed, integrated, tuned, or debugged major mobility functions.
- Simulation-only experience is not sufficient.
Preferred Experience
- ROS 2 Jazzy or Humble, SLAM Toolbox, AMCL, robot_localization, and Nav2 behaviour trees.
- NVIDIA Jetson, RPLIDAR, Intel RealSense, CAN communication, and embedded motor controllers.
- Navigation experience in crowded or changing indoor environments.
Application Requirement Applicants should share details of at least one physical mobile-robot project, including their contribution, challenges solved, results achieved, and a demonstration video or project link, if available.
