Role Overview
We are looking for a Quality Control Chemist – Resins to join our QC team at our Boisar Manufacturing Plant (Palghar). The role will be responsible for testing raw materials, in-process resin batches, and finished products to ensure compliance with approved quality specifications.
Key Responsibilities -
- Test incoming raw materials such as rosin, glycols, fatty acids, phenolics, anhydrides, monomers, catalysts, etc.
- Perform in-process testing during resin cooking/reaction stages, including acid value, viscosity, colour, softening point, and moisture.
- Conduct finished-product testing for acid value, hydroxyl value, viscosity, colour, NVC, softening/melting point, and solubility/compatibility.
- Accurately record test results in logbooks/LIMS and immediately report OOS results.
- Operate and maintain QC laboratory instruments such as viscometer, Gardner/APHA colorimeter, Karl Fischer titrator, melting point apparatus and GC, where applicable.
- Prepare and retain finished-product samples and assist in preparing Certificates of Analysis (CoA).
- Follow ASTM/IS/in-house SOPs and ensure adherence to standard testing methods.
- Support customer complaint and batch-deviation investigations through re-testing and accurate data analysis.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping and ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals, solvents and reagents.
- Support internal, customer and third-party quality audits by maintaining proper laboratory records and documentation.
Required Qualifications -
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, or Diploma in Chemical/Polymer/Paint Technology.
- Strong academic background in Analytical Chemistry will be considered for freshers.
Experience
- 0 –3 years of hands-on laboratory testing experience in a resin, ink, paint, adhesive or polymer manufacturing unit.
- Freshers with strong academic knowledge in Analytical Chemistry may also be considered.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of resin/polymer testing parameters and ASTM/IS standard test methods.
- Hands-on experience with QC laboratory instruments, particularly viscometer, Gardner/APHA colorimeter and Karl Fischer titrator.
- Basic understanding of raw materials and resin systems such as alkyd, rosin ester, polyamide, epoxy, phenolic and acrylic resins.
- High accuracy and discipline in testing, data recording and documentation.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and LIMS/ERP data entry.
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts as per plant requirements.
