The Production Manager will be responsible for planning, managing and controlling the complete production operations of the manufacturing unit, including plastic film production, poly bag manufacturing and flexographic printing.

The role will focus on achieving production targets, maintaining product quality, controlling wastage, improving machine efficiency, optimizing manpower and ensuring timely completion of customer orders.

1. Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesA. Production Planning & Execution

- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production plans based on customer orders and dispatch requirements.
- Coordinate with Sales, Purchase, Stores, Quality and Dispatch teams to ensure smooth production flow.
- Allocate machines, manpower and resources according to production priorities.
- Ensure production is completed within planned timelines and required specifications.
- Monitor production against planned targets and take corrective action for shortfalls.
- Prioritize urgent and critical customer orders to ensure timely delivery.

B. Plastic Film & Poly Manufacturing
- Supervise production activities related to blown film, plastic film, poly bags and other flexible packaging products.
- Ensure correct raw material, film specifications, thickness, width, colour and other parameters are maintained.
- Monitor machine settings and production parameters to achieve consistent output.
- Control film thickness variation, wastage and production losses.
- Ensure proper utilization of raw materials and additives.
- Coordinate with operators and supervisors to resolve production issues.

C. Flexographic Printing
- Supervise the complete flexographic/poly printing operation.
- Ensure correct artwork, printing plates, colours, registration and printing specifications are followed.
- Monitor printing quality and ensure colour consistency throughout production.
- Control ink, solvent, film and other consumable consumption.
- Reduce printing defects, rejection and wastage.
- Ensure proper machine setup, changeover and cleaning.
- Coordinate with the Flexo Printing Operator and Quality Team for approval of first-off samples.

D. Quality Control
- Ensure production is carried out according to approved specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor key parameters such as:
- Film thickness
- Width and length
- GSM
- Tensile strength, where applicable
- Printing registration
- Colour/shade
- Seal strength
- Bag dimensions
- Appearance and finishing
- Investigate production-related quality complaints and implement corrective actions.
- Reduce rejection, rework and customer complaints.
- Ensure proper in-process inspection and final quality checks.

E. Manpower Management




- Plan manpower requirements according to production schedules.
- Allocate operators, helpers and other production staff efficiently.
- Monitor employee performance, attendance and discipline.
- Train and develop operators and supervisors.
- Ensure proper shift handover and communication.
- Build a culture of accountability, productivity, quality and safety.

F. Machine & Maintenance Coordination
- Monitor machine performance, productivity and downtime.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Department for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Identify recurring machine problems and work towards permanent solutions.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for production equipment.
- Minimize machine breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
- Ensure proper machine cleaning and operating discipline.

G. Wastage & Cost Control
- Monitor production wastage on a daily basis.
- Establish acceptable wastage norms for different products and processes.
- Analyze reasons for excess wastage and implement corrective measures.
- Control consumption of raw materials, inks, solvents, additives, cores and packaging materials.
- Improve machine utilization and overall production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for reducing manufacturing costs.

H. Inventory & Material Coordination
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase Departments to ensure availability of required raw materials.
- Monitor consumption of raw materials against production.
- Avoid unnecessary material shortages and production stoppages.
- Ensure proper identification and handling of raw materials and finished goods.
- Monitor slow-moving and rejected materials and coordinate appropriate action.

1. Production Reporting & MIS

The Production Manager will maintain and review daily production reports covering:
- Machine-wise production
- Product-wise production
- Production targets vs. actual production
- Raw material consumption
- Wastage percentage
- Rejection and rework
- Machine downtime
- Machine utilization
- Manpower productivity
- Printing ink/solvent consumption
- Pending production orders

A daily production summary should be submitted to the Plant Head/Director.

Performance will be measured on:
- Production Target Achievement
- Machine Utilization / OEE
- Material Wastage Percentage




- Rejection & Rework Percentage
- On-Time Production Completion
- Machine Downtime
- Labour Productivity
- Raw Material Consumption Control
- Printing Quality & Customer Complaints
- Production Cost Reduction
- Safety Compliance
- 5S / Housekeeping & Workplace Discipline

1. Skills & Competencies

The candidate should possess:
- Strong knowledge of plastic film and flexible packaging manufacturing.
- Good understanding of blown film and poly bag manufacturing processes.
- Practical knowledge of flexographic printing will be highly preferred.
- Strong production planning and execution skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and identify inefficiencies.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good manpower management and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of quality control and process improvement.
- Good understanding of raw material consumption and wastage control.
- Ability to work under production targets and deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Computer knowledge, particularly Excel and production MIS, is preferred.

1. Qualification & Experience

Qualification:

- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Production, Polymer, Printing Technology or related field preferred.
- Candidates with strong relevant industry experience may also be considered.

Experience:

- 5–10 years of experience in plastic film, poly packaging, flexible packaging or printing manufacturing.
- Experience in managing multiple production processes and teams will be preferred.

1. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with factory safety procedures.
- Ensure operators use appropriate PPE.
- Maintain protected operating practices around production machinery.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of inks, solvents, chemicals and raw materials.
- Conduct regular safety checks and report unsafe conditions.
- Ensure fire safety and emergency procedures are followed.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and workplace discipline.

1. Reporting & Coordination

The Production Manager will coordinate closely with: Director / Plant Head – Production performance and strategic decisions

Sales Team – Order priorities and delivery commitments

Purchase Team – Raw material requirements

Stores – Material availability and inventory

Quality Team – Product quality and customer specifications

Maintenance Team – Machine breakdowns and preventive maintenance

Dispatch Team – Finished goods readiness and dispatch schedules

Production Supervisors & Operators – Daily production execution

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
