Job Summary The Procurement Head will be responsible for leading the procurement function, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, electronic components, electrical parts, fabricated components, consumables, and services required for manufacturing operations. The role involves supplier identification and development, commercial negotiations, inventory optimization, vendor performance management, and ensuring uninterrupted material availability while maintaining targeted cost and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with business objectives.

- Identify and establish relationships with major suppliers and OEMs.

- Build a solid supplier network for electrical, electronic, mechanical, and fabricated components.

- Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier performance.

Vendor Management

- Identify, evaluate, and select suitable suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and capability.

- Conduct supplier audits and vendor assessments.

- Develop alternate sources to reduce supply risks.

- Maintain strategic partnerships with key vendors.

Cost Management & Negotiation

- Analyze costing of electronic, electrical, and mechanical components.

- Negotiate pricing, discounts, payment terms, lead times, and annual rate contracts.

- Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.

- Review supplier quotations and perform cost comparisons.

Inventory Optimization

- Minimize inventory carrying costs while ensuring uninterrupted production.

- Monitor inventory levels, reorder points,



safety stock, and lead times.

- Coordinate with Production Planning and Stores teams for effective material planning.

- Reduce excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.

Procurement Operations

- Ensure timely procurement of all production and non-production materials.

- Oversee purchase order processing and supplier follow-up.

- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.

- Track supplier delivery performance and resolve supply issues.

Cross Functional Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Stores, and Finance departments.

- Support new product development projects through supplier sourcing.

- Ensure material availability aligns with production schedules.

Compliance & Risk Management

- Ensure compliance with organizational procurement policies.

- Manage contractual obligations and supplier agreements.

- Identify procurement risks and develop mitigation plans.

Preferred Experience

- 10-15+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain Management.

- Experience in Electrical, Electronics, Wind Turbine Generator, Motor, Generator, Transformer, Capital Equipment, or Engineering Manufacturing Industry preferred.

- Experience handling high-value procurement and supplier negotiations.

- Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical) or Supply Chain Management.

- MBA in Operations / Supply Chain Management preferred.
