YourCode is partnering with a global digital engineering consultancy to recruit an experienced Principal Engineering Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale WordPress and modern web development projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager, Technical Lead or Engineering Team Lead who enjoys combining people leadership with technical strategy, solution architecture and engineering excellence.

You'll lead talented engineers while helping shape the future of a globally distributed engineering organisation working on large-scale digital platforms for international enterprise clients.

What You'll Be Doing

- Lead, mentor and develop high-performing software engineering teams
- Build a culture focused on collaboration, continuous learning and technical excellence
- Coach engineers through regular feedback, career development and performance reviews
- Drive engineering quality through code reviews, testing standards and best practices
- Champion modern software engineering, AI-assisted development and automation
- Provide technical leadership across architecture, solution design and implementation
- Support technical estimation, project planning and engineering delivery
- Partner with Product, Project Management, UX, DevOps and Client Success teams
- Contribute to pre-sales, technical discovery and solution design activities
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments and engineering processes
- Support recruitment, technical interviewing and onboarding of engineers
- Deliver mentoring, technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives across the engineering organisation

What We're Looking For
- 8-12+ years' commercial software engineering experience




- Proven experience leading engineering teams within a software development environment
- Strong experience delivering enterprise WordPress solutions including:
- Custom Themes
- Custom Plugins
- Gutenberg
- REST APIs
- Modern WordPress Architecture
- Strong PHP development background with a solid understanding of modern engineering practices
- Experience working with JavaScript, React and modern front-end development
- Technical leadership experience across software architecture, technical estimation and engineering strategy
- Deep understanding of secure coding, automated testing and scalable software design
- Experience improving application performance through caching, CDN integration, database optimisation and Core Web Vitals
- Strong knowledge of Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployment
- Experience building, mentoring and growing high-performing engineering teams
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
