Responsibilities
Looking for program manager for Automotive industry
5-14 years of experience.
- Lead PMO operations, ensuring compliance with SOPs & RFQ management.
- Manage global programs from initiation to closure.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on program strategy & resource allocation.
- Role Purpose
- The Program Manager – Localization will be responsible for end-to-end management of localization programs for automotive and auto-component products, driving cost reduction, supplier development, localization of imported components, and timely transition to localized sources.
- The role will work closely with OEM customers, Engineering, R&D;, Purchase, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance and suppliers to ensure successful localization from concept through validation, PPAP and SOP.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end localization programs for automotive components from project initiation to SOP.
- Identify imported components and develop structured localization strategies based on cost, technology, quality, capacity and business potential.
- Coordinate with Engineering/R&D; teams for drawing, specifications, technical requirements and design localization.
- Identify, evaluate and develop capable Indian/local suppliers for localized components.
- Drive supplier RFQ, techno-commercial evaluation, benchmarking and cost negotiation.
- Prepare and monitor program timelines, milestones, APQP activities and launch plans.
- Coordinate prototype development, sample submission, testing, validation and customer approvals.
- Ensure PPAP/APQP documentation and successful customer approval before SOP.
- Drive localization targets in terms of cost, content, quality, delivery and timelines.
- Work closely with suppliers to resolve technical, quality and manufacturing issues during development.
- Conduct VA/VE, cost reduction and should-cost analysis to improve product competitiveness.
- Monitor tooling, dies, moulds, fixtures and other localization investments.
- Manage localization risks related to technology, supplier capability, capacity, quality and delivery.
- Coordinate with Quality teams for supplier audits, process validation, PPAP and corrective actions.
- Ensure smooth transition from development to serial production and stable supply.
- Track project performance through dashboards and regularly report status to senior management.
- Manage customer interactions and act as the single point of contact for localization programs.
- Ensure adherence to project budgets, timelines and agreed commercial targets.

- Ideal Candidate Profile
- The ideal candidate should be a strong program/project management professional with hands-on automotive localization experience, capable of managing multiple stakeholders and suppliers simultaneously. The candidate should possess a solid combination of technical understanding, commercial acumen, supplier development capability and customer-management skills.
- Strong experience in taking a component from imported source localization strategy supplier development prototype validation PPAP customer approval SOP is highly preferred.
- Education
- B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Automobile / Production / Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Experience: 10–16 years in Automotive / Auto Components, with significant exposure to Localization, NPD and Program Management.
