Job Summary:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions that help patients develop, recover, or maintain daily living and work skills. The role focuses on enabling patients to achieve maximum independence and quality of life through personalized therapy programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment:
- Evaluate patients physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities through observation and clinical testing.
- Identify functional limitations and set achievable therapy goals.
- Treatment Planning & Implementation:
- Develop individualized treatment plans focusing on activities of daily living (ADL) and functional improvement.
- Use therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, and activity-based interventions.
- Rehabilitation & Support:
- Train patients in using assistive devices and ergonomic tools.
- Provide guidance to families and caregivers for home-based therapy continuation.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physiotherapists, doctors, psychologists, nurses) for integrated patient care.
- Education & Counseling:
- Educate patients on lifestyle modification, posture correction, and injury prevention.
- Participate in awareness programs, workshops, and in-service training sessions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy (BOT / MOT) from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the relevant state or national OT council.
- Robust communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
