Key Responsibilities

Middleware Platform Engineering

- Install, configure, administer, and support JWS Tomcat, Red Hat JBoss EAP, and NGINX across environments.

- Design and maintain standardized middleware configurations, including clustering, load balancing, and SSL/TLS.

- Manage middleware lifecycle activities:

- Upgrades

- Patching
- Decommissioning

- Support both embedded and standalone middleware deployments.

Operations &

- Production Support

- Provide L2/L3 production support for middleware platforms.

- Troubleshoot complex issues across:

- Performance

- Memory
- Threading
- Connection pooling
- JVM tuning

- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes.

- Support incident, problem, and change management processes (ITIL-aligned).

Deployment &

- Automation

- Support application deployments (WAR/EAR/JAR) on Tomcat/JBoss, including container environments (preference noted for Amazon ECS).

- Work with CI/CD pipelines (example given: GitLab CI) for automated deployments.

- Implement and maintain automation using shell scripting and configuration/automation tooling such as Chef (or similar).

Security &

- Compliance

- Configure security hardening for middleware including TLS, certificates, authentication, and authorization.

- Ensure alignment with enterprise security standards and drive vulnerability remediation.

- Partner with security teams to remediate findings from scans and audits.

Cloud &

- Up-to-date Platforms





- Support middleware on VM-based and containerized platforms such as:

- Docker

- Kubernetes
- OpenShift
- ECS

- Configure and operate NGINX as:

- Reverse proxy

- Load balancer
- Ingress component

- Support hybrid and cloud environments (AWS / on-prem as applicable).

Required Skills &

- Experience

Must Have (Core Technical Skills)

- Strong hands-on experience with:

- JWS Tomcat 9.x/10.x

- Red Hat JBoss EAP 7.x
- NGINX

- Strong understanding of Java application server architecture and JVM fundamentals.

- Experience with Linux/Unix (RHEL preferred).

- Experience in application deployments, configuration management, and log analysis.

Supporting Skills

- Experience with SSL/TLS, certificates, keystores, and truststores.

- Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, REST, and networking fundamentals.

- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as:

- AppDynamics

- Prometheus
- Grafana

- Experience in ITIL-aligned environments:

- Incident Management

- Change Management
- Problem Management

Nice to Have

- Container platforms:

- Docker

- Kubernetes
- OpenShift
- ECS

- Infrastructure/automation tooling exposure:

- Ansible

- Terraform
- Chef

- Cloud exposure:

- AWS (preferred)

- Knowledge of WebSphere or other enterprise middleware.

- Banking / regulated industry experience.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science / Engineering (or equivalent experience).

- Relevant certifications (Red Hat, Linux, Cloud, ITIL) are advantageous.
