- Review operative reports, physician documentation, and medical records for pain management procedures.
- Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for interventional pain management and surgical procedures.
- Ensure coding compliance with AMA, CMS, NCCI, and payer-specific guidelines.
- Identify documentation deficiencies and coordinate with providers for clarification when required.
- Perform coding quality checks and resolve coding-related edits and denials.
- Maintain productivity and accuracy targets as defined by the organization.
- Stay current with annual coding updates and payer policy changes.
- Support audits and implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
- Peripheral nerve blocks
- Intrathecal pain pump procedures
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet productivity and quality goals.
Qualifications
- Certification such as CPC, CCS, COC, or equivalent is preferred.
- Graduate in Life Sciences or an equivalent healthcare-related field.
- Minimum of 2 - 5 years of coding experience in pain management or surgery coding is preferred.
