Role & responsibilities

This role is responsible for managing Capital Expenditure (CapEx) accounting, asset capitalization, CWIP closure, asset verification, insurance accounting, financial controls and related MIS/reporting. The position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, timely capitalization of projects, regulatory compliance, effective control over high-value assets and timely management reporting.

The role will be responsible for CapEx investments exceeding 100 Crores and requires close coordination with Project, Procurement, SSC and other cross-functional teams. Key deliverables include annual CapEx budgeting, CEP evaluation, CapEx negotiations, BG validation, CWIP review and closure, asset capitalization within defined timelines, insurance coverage for major projects, post-CapEx evaluation and various management reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and monitor the annual CapEx budget.
- Evaluate Capital Expenditure Proposals (CEPs) within defined timelines.
- Monitor CapEx commitments, negotiations and Bank Guarantee (BG) validation.
- Review and ensure timely CWIP closure and capitalization of assets.
- Monitor and review Mega Risk Insurance and EAR Cum Storage policies for major projects.
- Support post-CapEx evaluation and project financial monitoring.
- Prepare inputs for CFO, CGIC, BGMC and other management reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies,



statutory requirements and internal financial controls.
- Conduct/coordinate physical verification of assets and reconciliation of asset records.
- Visit ongoing project sites periodically to monitor project status and financial progress.

Key Challenges The role involves handling high-value CapEx projects and complex accounting transactions, requiring timely coordination across multiple stakeholders. Major challenges include timely project closure and capitalization, monitoring large CWIP balances, ensuring asset integrity, managing insurance coverage, supporting audits, maintaining regulatory compliance and providing accurate financial information for management decision-making.

Preferred candidate profile

- Qualification: CA / CMA / MBA Finance.
- Experience: Approximately 68 years of relevant experience in CapEx accounting, project accounting, fixed assets or financial controls.
- Strong knowledge of CapEx and asset accounting, SAP, financial reporting, MIS, audit and internal controls.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple high-value projects and deliver within strict timelines.
