Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled LiDAR / Point Cloud GIS Analyst to support LiDAR data processing, point-cloud classification, terrain modeling, contour generation, and 2D GIS feature extraction. The candidate will be responsible for converting raw LAS/LAZ point-cloud data into accurate and usable GIS datasets, including DTM, contour lines, GIS Feature Classes, Shapefiles, and CAD outputs, while ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

- Import and process raw LAS/LAZ LiDAR point-cloud data

- Perform noise and outlier removal

- Classify point-cloud data into Ground, Buildings, Vegetation, Water Bodies, Bridges, Utility Structures

- Remove duplicate and erroneous points

- Fill small terrain gaps where required

- Generate accurate Digital Terrain Models (DTM) using classified ground points

- 2D GIS Feature Extraction: Extract planimetric features from classified point clouds

- Digitize and create GIS Feature Classes for: Road centerlines and road edges

- Pavements, medians and footpaths

- Railways

- Building footprints/outlines

- Rivers, canals, lakes, ponds and drainage channels

- Electric poles, transmission towers and street lights

- Utility cabinets and manholes

- Boundary walls, fences and retaining walls

- Open grounds

- Individual trees, tree lines and shrub areas

- Perform topology validation and geometry checks





- Export final GIS datasets in required formats

- Data & Deliverable Management: Work with LAS/LAZ, DTM, GIS Feature Classes, Shapefiles and CAD datasets

- Ensure project data is organized according to project standards

- Prepare metadata and supporting documentation

- Convert raw LAS/LAZ point-cloud data into accurate and usable GIS datasets, including DTM, contour lines, GIS Feature Classes, Shapefiles, and CAD outputs, while ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards

- Drone piloting certification

- Deep learning for image classification

- LiDAR data processing

- Point-cloud classification

- Terrain modeling and DTM generation

- Contour generation

- 2D GIS feature extraction

- GIS editing and digitization

- GIS topology and attribute management

- QA/QC of GIS and LiDAR datasets

- Software Skills: ArcGIS Pro, TerraScan, TerraModeler, LP360, Global Mapper, Bentley ContextCapture, MicroStation

- Input Data Knowledge: LAS / LAZ point clouds, Trajectory data, Ground Control Points (GCPs), Orthophotos, Existing GIS/CAD data
