Reports To
Founder / Senior Portfolio Manager
Team
Investment Research & Portfolio Management
About the Role
Niralusha Investments is looking for a sharp, independent-minded Equity Research Analyst to join our investment team. This is a hands-on research role — you will study companies, sectors, and markets from every angle (technical, fundamental, and macroeconomic), form clear and well-supported views, and directly influence how client portfolios are built, monitored, and rebalanced. We want someone who can defend a position with data and conviction, not just report facts.
Key Responsibilities
1. 360° Research & Analysis
● Conduct end-to-end research on stocks combining technical analysis, fundamental analysis (financial statements, ratios, valuation, management quality, competitive positioning) and macro/micro economic conditions (interest rates, inflation, currency, policy, global cues, industry cycles).
● Track and interpret economic data releases (RBI/Fed policy, GDP, inflation, IIP, PMI, global commodity and currency trends) and translate them into actionable sector and stock views.
● Identify sectoral rotation and emerging themes early — spot which sectors are gaining or losing relative strength and why.
2. Technical & Chart-Based Research
● Perform manual stock screening (not just running pre-built scanners) across market caps and sectors to surface actionable candidates.
● Mark demand and supply zones, support/resistance, and trend structure across multiple timeframes (weekly, daily, hourly/intraday) using price action, volume, and market structure.
● Apply momentum and swing trading techniques to identify entry, exit, and risk-management levels for tactical positions.
● Combine technical setups with fundamental and macro context so trade/investment ideas are backed by more than one lens.
3. Portfolio Monitoring & Client Support
● Continuously monitor existing client portfolio holdings, flagging deterioration, opportunity, or risk-concentration issues proactively.
● Recommend and justify portfolio changes (additions, exits, rebalancing, hedges) aimed at outperforming relevant benchmark indices.
● Deep-dive into individual holdings on request — building a complete research case (thesis, risks, valuation, technical levels) that can be presented to the investment team or clients.
4. Conviction, Communication & Decision Support
● Form and clearly articulate well-reasoned, opinionated investment views — be able to make the case for (or against) an idea persuasively and back it with evidence when challenged.
● Present research findings in a structured, concise format (written notes and verbal discussion) to support investment committee decisions.
● Maintain a research log / idea tracker and follow up on the performance of past calls to build an accountable track record.
5. Market Recall & Composure Under Pressure
● Keep a sharp, near real-time mental map of key stock prices, levels, open positions, and client portfolio holdings — able to recall specifics instantly in a discussion without stopping to look everything up.
● Make fast, sound decisions during volatile, fast-moving sessions (gap opens, event-driven spikes, sudden reversals) — acting decisively within tight windows rather than freezing or hesitating.
● Treat volatility as opportunity, not threat — stay calm and explicit-headed exactly when the market is at its most chaotic, while still respecting risk and position sizing.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA/CFA/CMT pursuing or completed is a strong plus, not mandatory for junior level).
● Solid working knowledge of technical analysis: chart patterns, trend structure, support/resistance, demand-supply zones, indicators (RSI, MACD, moving averages, volume analysis).
● Solid working knowledge of fundamental analysis: reading financial statements (P&L;, balance sheet, cash flow), valuation methods (DCF, relative valuation), and business/industry analysis.
● Genuine interest in and working understanding of macroeconomics — able to connect interest rates, inflation, currency, and global events to sector and stock impact.
● Comfortable with manual research and screening — not solely reliant on automated tools or third-party recommendations.
● Strong, well-supported opinions with the confidence and communication skills to defend them in discussion — while remaining open to being proven wrong by data.
● Proficiency with charting/screening platforms (e.g., TradingView, Chartink, brokerage terminals) and Excel/Google Sheets for analysis.
● Personal trading/investing track record, portfolio simulations, or demonstrable market involvement will count strongly in your favour, even without formal work experience.
● High integrity and discretion — this role involves direct influence over client money.
● Excellent recall for numbers — prices, levels, position sizes, and portfolio details — and the mental bandwidth to track multiple open positions and client books simultaneously.
● Demonstrated ability to think and act quickly under pressure; genuinely energised (not rattled) by volatile, fast-moving markets.
● Calm, level-headed temperament — able to make high-stakes calls in seconds during sharp moves without panicking or freezing.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
● NISM certifications (Research Analyst / Investment Adviser modules), CFA Level 1+, or CMT Level 1+.
● Prior internship or work experience at a broking firm, PMS, AIF, mutual fund, or proprietary trading desk.
● A public or demonstrable body of market research/writing (blog, newsletter, social media analysis, etc.).
● Familiarity with sector rotation frameworks, intermarket analysis, and multi-timeframe trading systems.
What Niralusha Investments Offers
● Direct mentorship and fast-tracked learning working closely with the founder/senior decision-makers on live portfolio calls.
● Ownership of research areas/sectors and visible impact on real client outcomes from day one.
● A meritocratic environment where well-reasoned, correct calls are recognised and rewarded.
● Growth path toward senior analyst / portfolio manager responsibilities based on performance.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit
● An updated resume/CV.
● A short write-up (1 page max) with a current stock or sector view — including technical levels (with demand/supply zone marking), fundamental rationale, and the macro backdrop supporting the view.
● Any evidence of prior market involvement (portfolio track record, blog, certifications, internship reports).
